……..what appeared to be a Giant XC bike running Fox 40’s.

    That is all.

Exactly why I put ‘appeared’, but thanks for pointing that out. That is all.

Looked like it had short travel, either way it wasn’t a Glory, or any other model of DH/Freeride/Enduro/All mountain Giant!

It’s true, i was there. I think the forks were actually bigger than the bike.

Makes a change though from the ‘football shirt (mainly Liverpool), astro trainer, full face, fosters drinking’ crew.

Some people really are frightfully common aren’t they – if only they could be banned from the countryside.

To be fair, mancian has a valid point.

I was up there a few months ago during the hot weather, after doing a lap I decided to play about on the jumps just up from the car park. After about 15 minutes 3 lads turned up, clearly from Liverpool and one had his top off, they pulled out a 6 pack of Fosters so I left sharpish as i was on my own.

And before anyone points it out he was well within his rights to have his top off, and to drink Fosters, i just found the situation a little strange at a trail centre.

Saw a lad on a Carrera Banshee with Marzocchi dual crown forks on. He was also wearing camo trousers and what appeared to be a bomb disposal helmet.

He was somewhat upstaged by the guy on a Cube in “Enduro” colours with full Cube team kit on.

What exactly were you scared might happen ?

The riffraff probably would have known they shouldn’t address Sir directly.

And I bet the pair of them were too busy enjoying themselves to give a shit what you were wearing or riding.

I was there a few ago and there were grown men pushing £3k+ bikes up hill.!

I was there today – it was full of elitist, opinionated dickwits too busy scoffing at other people to actually enjoy themselves.

This is what makes me laugh. At no point in my original post did I criticise the guy for riding a XC bike with DH forks, I was merely pointing out what I saw as I thought it was quite odd, nor did I criticise the guys from Loverpool for what they wore, or not wore as the case may be.

I think people really to open their eyes and read posts before they make sarcastic comments.

People are free to wear and ride what they want, in fact, both myself and my mate who I was riding with today got over taken on a climb by some old dude riding a fully rigid Trek that was about 15 years old, fair play to the dude, I even made a comment to my friend about how good his climbing skills were.

I just hope the guy on the giant with triple crowns made it round safely without his frame snapping. The fosters would prob dull the pain though.

I was going too fast to look at other people anyway. I only saw the giant guy as I was at my car after 2 laps, just as people were starting.

I love enduro and never push my £2k bike up hills.

I’ve been up at Innerleithen and come across a trio sessioning some of the sections on the XC trail whilst smoking some spliffs.

They clearly had no intention of getting pissed then.

I passed some chap on a brightly coloured multi thousand pound trail bike with a matching Poc helmet. He was loading his bike into his pimped out VW Transporter before driving back to his flat pack home on some boring housing estate. I thought he looked like a chav, but it turned out he was just a mountain biker.

So it was just a list of stuff you’d seen then, not criticising or anything 🙄

I saw a bloke in town this afternoon. He was wearing jeans and a teeshirt.

Just joining in with the “no point whatsoever” observations theme you now seem to be claiming.

Was there today as well. It was packed, great to see such a wide variety of people from different classes and parts of the UK enjoying our beautiful countryside on a massively different conglomeration of push irons 🙂

Good to see some of the Young British cycling team out and about as well.

I’ve had more fun with people on “unsuitable”, old, knackered or downright weird bikes than folk on the latest machines or trendy wheel sizes/bar widths/nichomatic frames.

Could it have been a Giant AC? Not all that weird if it was.

There definitely seems to be an inverse relationship between riding skill and bike blingness. I keep trying to build tattier and tattier bikes but I still suck at riding 😀

I was at Llandegla today aswell.

I also know the lad with the “Carrera Banshee with Marzocchi dual crown forks on. He was also wearing camo trousers and what appeared to be a bomb disposal helmet.”

And no the forks are single crown, the lid is to protect his head.

Camo trousers were infact Adidas shorts.

So in a nutshell I think the Banshee beat the Cube.

Also who does give a shit what other people ride? leave em to it?

That wasn’t at Llandegla it was at Hamsterley.

When I saw them I was pushing my bike up a hill.

We were down our local new trail, big group of us, lots of ridiculously expensive bikes, along with other ones. At the end one of the lads pulled out an ice box full of nice craft beers and ciders that we sat round enjoying before heading home. I’m not sure which side of the STW anger I’m due now 😉

We went degla today you see all sorts the best I saw though was a fully decked out Nomad 650b with Enve wheels being pushed up the climb 😆

I sat on my sofa unable to ride with a broken elbow. I’d have been happy to ride any bike anywhere today, and was happy to see a bunch of roadies on expensive bikes pass my house. Some people may have thought their gut size to bike price ratio was excessive, but I was genuinely happy for them.

Christ, are any of you lot going to be there tomorrow, will be there with my 67yo dad on his Trance and in ‘normal’ riding kit, I will be on a 5 and probably wearing knee pads and my 16yo son will be on a voodoo hoodoo in non mtb attire, will we be allowed to ride or scoffed out of the car park? We are only going to enjoy ourselves 😳
