What's the best tubeless sealant to use?

I've always just used the normal Stans stuff but there seems to be loads of options around now. Is there anything better than Stans or just stick with what I know?

I've been using Muc Off, which has been okay, but I'm looking to try something else as I'm almost out.

OKO Hi Fibre is the best I've used. Fixes punctures around about as well as other sealants (who really knows tbh?) but it lasts better, and being water soluble you can thin it if you like, it washes out easily, and when it starts to dry up you can just dilute it again. Basically there might be other sealants that are better on day 1, but with a little care it'll be just as good after a year.

And it can be very cheap- it's the exact same as Halo sealant so it's worth a little shop around to see what's currently cheap.

Peaty's is probably the best I've used. Has the little bits of 'glitter' in it. Fixes punctures without even knowing other than losing a little bit if pressure. Muc off works but pisses sealant out before it seals the puncture.

Big element of this I reckon

who really knows tbh?

In true Singletrack tradition though, I use Orange Seal Endurance. The LBS closest to me sells it, it has stopped a few punctures for me, and it lasts a while (sometimes - there seems to be a surprising amount of variation to that). Haven't had a reason to try anything else, especially as it's (supposedly) better to top up with more of the same rather than mix.

I’ve tried virually every brand out there and none seal anything more than a thorn. At least not until the pressure drops. All the guys i ride with find the same but go to forums and mags and X sealant is the best thing since sliced bread.

road bike the pressure is way too high to seal anything and even on the MTB nothing seals until psi drop ps really low. Then it may cure and seal over night.

if it works stick with it. Otherwise buy cheap. I find Orange does the initial set up better than any other so I stick with that. Out on the trail they’re all of a muchness. Worst has been muc-off since they changed their recipe as that gloops after about 3 weeks of use. And seals no better!

I've not tried many others, but I did try some peatys for a while. Terrible stuff that made me vow to never buy another peatys product again. I didn't even finish the bottle, gave it to some bloke in a bikepark carpark who was in need of some and liked peatys..... Yet I found it couldn't seal a new tyre, and couldn't even seal a thorn hole. On top that, if you slash a tyre it destroys whatever you are wearing at the time.

Stans just works, and I'm sure it lasts longer than it used too as well. Tempted to try some of the Halo/OKO hi fibre mentioned above next though.

Honestly, just stick with regular Stans. When it comes time to swap out worn tyres I'm always amazed by all the thorns and other bits stuck in them that the Stans has sealed. Just remember to keep it topped up.

I bought some OKO to use in TPU tubes for a best of both worlds approach - not tried it in anger yet but it definitely seals the valve core really well!

I got a load of the Halfords own brand sealant on offer a year or so ago - it was at £6 for a 500ml bottle, so I bought 4.

I've set up multiple tyres with it, and had no issues at all.

I guess it's rebranded something else.

Previous to that I've always found the Joe's No Flats to work very well.

I can't fault Stans. I was in riding in and around Malaga last week and every morning there was a white spot of dried latex on my tyres somewhere. No idea how many holes it sealed but it was working overtime that's for sure.

Oko for me. Used it now for a few years without any issues. Water it down about 30% and stick some vaseline on the valve.

Decathlon for me as it comes in sensible sized and sensible priced bottles for someone who only has 1 bike with tubeless.

Ok, this might be an edge use case, but I'd happily drop kick Mr Oko into next week for the frustration his/her magic milk caused. I'd been trying to get a pair of fat bike tyres to seal and hold for months...literally months. I bought specialist wide rim tape, bought those stupidly expensive valve nut things and I spent hours fettling the bead and nothing worked. This was with the OKO stuff as a sealant. Before Christmas I bought some stans and boom - up first time and has stayed that way. Both front and rear, so not a freak one off.

I'd previously used the normal and hi fibre magic milk stuff in road, gravel and normal mtb tyres without too much issue. A couple of road bike punctures needed a minute or two of adding air and faffing mid ride to get it to seal and a mystery flat overnight on a gravel bikepacking trip just reinflated and was no bother since so maybe in normal use it's fine. But tubeless fat bike tyres really do seem to test stuff out and on that basis its back to Stans for everything for me now.

I use peatys holeshot biofibre stuff, I was one of those anti-tubeless types until I seen it work in the flesh, sealing a massive puncture and the rider just continued on with their ride completely unfussed, I asked him what sealant he was using and he said peatys.<br />I literally went online straight after I got home and bought a full conversion kit, been just shy of a year since I've been using it now and have had a few punctures that I've not even been aware of till I got home.

I am aware there was some hoohah about peatys sealent in the past, bad formula/supplier penny pinching but I've had nothing but good stuff to say about it. Bonus is when it comes to top up time you just squirt more in, doesn't use ammonia so you don't get the tubeless bogies rolling around inside your tyre

I’ve tried Bontrager, Juice Lubes, Stans and out of all of them I keep coming back to Stans, it seems to work better than the others, is easy to squirt through a Schrader valve and lasts ok.

I've always used Stan's. Only time I've had a problem is when I've been a bit crap at topping up and have let it dry out.

I used some orange coloured stuff a while back . Never again. Worked okay as a sealant, but stained everything it came with 3' of.

I've tried all sorts and generally they've all been OK. Been happiest with the cheapest then!

Currently using OKO Linseal which seems aimed at Farmers but has bikes listed in the description. No issues so far and it's 12 quid a litre on eBay.

Just be wary of sellers charging a bit less and not mentioning the quantity in the advert and showing a picture of the identical looking 500ml bottle!

🤷🏻‍♂️ I just use Stans.

Decathlon did not work for me.

X sealant is the best thing since sliced bread

Assuming this is ‘x’ the variable rather than ‘X’ some brand or other.
