Here are the types I've been considering, not sure what would likely work best on a mountainbike? Any suggestions?
Depends on the position you feel most comfortable in really.
I would check whether your handlebar is designed to take an attachment where you want to place it. It is unlikely that the bar has been designed to take clamping in the position required or be structurally engineered to take the weight where you are placing it.
I fitted some Velo Orange Crazy Bars to my hardtail last week - they have aero like bars to the front, similar in profile to the T4+ pictured above. No rest pads though, will have to add those myself.
First proper ride with them this morning. Different to the Jones Loops
As a beginner a t1 or t4.
I've used T1s on a MTB for bikepacking trips involving long road sections. I'd say they're worth a gear or two into a headwind.
I even fitted them to carbon bars. Living on the edge me!
OP, what are you wanting them for?
A bit awkward to tell from the shots in your post but do the horns on the T1 bars also bend towards the centreline of the bike? I'd choose whichever fits your natural rest position of your hands when put your arms in that extended position which for most people means the grip is angled in by about 45degs.

Running Sam Hill alu bars, probably not designed for TT bars specifically, but should be fairly sturdy?
I want them for comfort and commuting speed, not competing so comfort is more important than marginal aero gains. Currently running cheapo S bars, but want to be able to move the armrests further back hence looking at a profile design bar. Comfort hasn't been an issue but only done short commutes so far and it'd be nice to be able to do longer ones.
Some say L or J bars are better for sprinting, some say they're worse and S bars are better. Leaning towards a T4 or T3 as you can see below.
i fitted a siren fred bar to overcome this - also has the added advantage of needing only 2 x 5mm hex bolts undone to remove and refit.
I use the t2 shape . - i did try jammer GT shorties but didnt like the length
Guess some changes are happening, but some prefer the T3+
J bends. Wrists might take a hammering on an MTB and this helps mine. Control always feels better too, 3T make a better shape than those above.
