I had some direttissimas on order back in September (for March delivery) and cancelled them when the maximas went live. As it’s kickstarter there’s no way to swap orders…

I’m not riding at the moment anyway, so not the end of the world, but still. Better to find out now than nearer/after the delivery date.

Had a feeling this might end up as an open ended wait.

Better to get a good set eventually than a bad set sooner I reckon.

Hayes went on the bike this week…. fingers are crossed that they feel good and don’t let me down.

Scotland in the wet next week, should be z good modulation test!

    Wow, stunning looking brake!
    So overengineered it’s like art.

What rotors are you running with them?
The lever throw adjuster seems a little delicate though. I guess you wind it in and adjust once fitted.

Rotors are 203mm trickstuff ones. Fancied 223mm on the front, but Fox won’t warranty the fork for it 😕.

Not sure about the adjuster, but will see what happens when I fit them. (tomorrow 😫)

I could fit them to my bike this afternoon if it would help?

Just had a look. Seems a shame they haven’t overengineered these either and made them floating or something similar. Not bling enough to match the brakes 😀

TBH I don’t mind that too much. There is a little unnecessary engineering mind, the edge of the rotor is chamfered…

There’s always Intend Aero rotors if I have a hankering for more bling…

Lovely stuff. The rotors are chamfered because it makes them easier to insert between the pads.

    Something I’ve always struggled with… 😉

    😂😂😂

Seems ze Germans have a sense of humour. There was a leaflet of some description in the box, I assumed it was a warranty card or some such thing. On closer inspection it turns out it’s a guide to funding your next purchase…

    Funding options?

    They look….trick!
Very nice engineering. Only things that put me off are price and spares availability.

To be honest, as utterly terrible as the website is, once I had placed the order and had a direct contact, he has been brilliant over email. They’ve sorted me out with stuff that is showing as out of stock on the website, and got stuff out straight away, so I’m not massively worried about getting hold of spares, should they be required.

The instructions for bleeding however, look somewhat terrifying… (they’ve done it perfectly in the factory, but tarts like me insist on having frames with internal routing) http://webedition.trickstuff.de/en/manuals/PDFs/161212_Entlften_Direttissima_en_KL.pdf

Lush… and in my favourite colour scheme too.

A mate ordered some too, think I’ll pop round for a cuppa at the weekend!

    Enjoy.

    my favourite colour scheme too.

Wasn’t my choice, I’d have gone black and silver, but there wasn’t an option to change the stock colours.

    Worth the wait!

    Quick update.

Not ridden them off-road yet (stupid foot…) but riding them down a really steep hill has revealed they they are a different level of ridiculous when it comes to power, but well modulated enough to not punt me over the bars at the first hint of squeezing the lever. Seems they have gone live on the website too, just a 9 short month lead time…

As for if they are worth the wait/money, probably not. There are plenty other brakes that are good enough, for 30% of the price of these, available straight away. But these are, by some distance, the best looking, best feeling and most powerful brakes I’ve ever used.

    What I paid?

€1100 for the brakes, rotors, mounts etc
Another €100 for a bleed kit and 4 sets of pads.
Another €25 for hydraulic fluid (inc shipping.
Still don’t have bleed blocks, but I can improvise.
    6 month lead time.

They are now on the website for €1100 for just the brakes, no rotors or anything, and it’s a 9 month lead time.

The OP has pretty much agreed that they are very expensive, but also that they are very (very) nice to use.  Also if you go back to the first post you get an inkling that buying these brakes (and the rest of the kit) is as much an ‘up yours’ to other issues as it is about the kit.  And if it makes you happy it’s worth it.  #ForzaTom

The price doesn’t put me off these, but the crazy long lead time does.

Do they do 0% over the 9 months it takes to get them?
