cheers but no, it is an event in eastern france - a 7 day enduro with some lift assists but a lot of climbing as well. it boasts that it has the most amount of singletrack out of the european trans events.

I live and ride on the Italian side of the Maritime Alps/provence and the riding is incredible, way better than the usual alpine honey pots.

The event is based on typical european enduro rally style, i.e you are timed on the downhill runs with an allocated time slot to get yourself to the top.

There is a shuttle in the emorning but this is needed as the descending in these parts really will beat it out of you as well as the climbs...

give it a go it will be the best event you will ever do.

Go to the site http://www.trans-provence.com/

Entries for 2011 open in early Dec I think. 45 riders in total will be admitted, first come first served.

Awesome event, great people, unbelievable riding BUT you do need to be VERY fit, I did it this year and it was MUCH harder than I expected with alot of carrying and pushing, as much to preserve energy as anything else as just like nasher says the descents will take it out of you too but they are sooo good!

However the descents were well worth it and the scenery breathtaking.

Best thing I've ever done, changed my attitude to riding, very inspiring.

Heres some footage Michiel took this year.

Be interesting to see what Matt writes, we had great fun but there were some lows on the climbs!!!

I may try to do it again next year but it was pretty tough on my family, we'll see.

I did the event two years ago. The riding is superb, but as someone mentioned you need to be fit. Its 7 days in a row of between 1500 and 2100m vertical height gain in a day. While these figure may seem small compared to something like a trans-alp the climbs are proper steep. A lot of them you are going to resort to carrying your bike. When you get to the top the trails are a real flow-fest. They are not hugely technical (except 1 or 2) compared to proper high alpine riding but they are fast and flowy with enough tech to keep them very interesting and keep you on your game.

Despite being tired on the tops of the climbs you will come out of the bottom of all the trails with such an incredible smile on your face and on such a high you will want more. I found myself missing being there this year when the event was going on.

All I can say is DO IT. But be well prepared.

Just go to the bottom of the steepest longest single track you know and walk up it carrying your bike and then cycle back down. Repeat for the next 8 - 10 hours and it gives you some idea of what one day on TP is like! Useful if you've done switchbacks and any kind of riding outside of UK. It was the single most challenging exciting event I have ever partaken in the people were great food great trails great people came from all over the world to do it If you want to do one event before starting a family do this one and good luck and have fun.
