If they were offering 50/1 i’d have a piece. Mainly because I always lose my bets so the simple act of me betting against an England win guarantees an England win
I read an article a while ago about setting betting rates. Really interesting exercise in maths and remarkably little to do with whole their think the match will go. A poor rate means a low amount to pay out (a good thing) but a poor ability to attract punts to put money down (a bad thing). It’s all about balancing the number of people betting each way and the payout. It’s really clever.
edit – all this talk of the odds of the Aussies winning seems to be having the right effect!
