  • Tell me your desert island discs

Blatantly robbed off radio 2 and no doubt already posted somewhere on here. Nonetheless, if you could have only FIVE songs with you on a desert island, what would they be?

PS I tried this is a pub with some mates years ago. By the end of the night we all vowed to go off and make a CD’s worth of desert island tracks. I still listen to that CD today and there’s hardly any of it I’d change

Sartre was half right. Hell is other people(‘s record collections). 😉

I am sure my indispensable 5 songs would drive anyone else crazy too! I think today they would all be Bowie. In fact, can i just take side A of Ziggy Stardust?

Let’s hope our desert islands aren’t too close to each other, eh? 🙂

ton, we could ask for some kind of tidal causeway between our islands and borrow Bowie from each other. As long as you don’t try any of that Deacon Blue nonsense on me. 😛

this is tricky bordering on impossible

    but five charged with memories

    wild world – cat stevens
dannys all star joint – rickie lee jones
    blind love – tom waits
one bourbon one scotch and one beer- george thorogood
    sweet jane – velvet underground

ask me tomorrow and youd get five different ones though

(and if it was a real desert island some mozart and beethoven would probably be a safer bet)

OK perhaps I should do mine. bear in mind I’m picking 5 from my carefully thought out Desert Island Compact Disc (i.e. 15 or so tracks!):

Beach Boys – God Only Knows (easiest of the easy choices. Top of the list every time)
Aretha Franklin – Say A Little Prayer
U2 – Where the Streets Have No Name
Derek & The Dominoes – Layla
Bill Withers – Lean On Me

I may change my mind in a few moments

Ten would be a better number

…and then you’ll want 20, and then 50 and before you know it you’ll have your own “Now That’s What I Call MUsic…” collection 😀

Cheers. I thought this post might give some good suggestions of music to check out. Yours intrigued me ‘cos I knew nothing of them. Liked all but 1/2lb. I think if I had to listen to that whilst waiting to be rescued from a desert island I might go and tie a noose round a coconut tree 😆
*Phew* back to the Lisa MItchell one, that’s better

    Gene – Olympian
Smiths – How Soon Is Now?
Dire Straits – Sultans of Swing (from Alchemy Live)
Steve Earle – Tom Ames’ Prayer
    Dreadzone – Little Britain

I reserve the right to change my mind

Anyone who can pick 5 songs and be happy to take just those 5 to a desert island isn’t a fan of music.

I find it helps to put the “stuck on a desert island” element into the decision. I have LOADS of fave dance and hip hop music that I love listening too, but perhaps not on a desert island. Hardfloor’s Acperience 1 is prob my fave EVER bit of dance music, but oddly never entered the running in this
