    Have we done these yet?

    http://m.pinkbike.com/news/revolution-suspension-grips-review-2016.html

I was ready to dismiss them out of hand but having read the article I’m left wondering if they might be worth a try… Especially since it seems I can send them back if I don’t like them.

    What does everyone think?

I see what you did there. 🙂

Can’t see whether the few mm of ‘travel’ you get with this is worth more than the few mm you might get from a foam grip. Can’t see it being as reliable as a bit of foam. And it costs 100 dollars.

How very intriguing! That’s a very interesting idea. I do rather need to feel them before shelling out that sort of cash though…

Interesting idea but I can’t get my head round that pricing?

I think I have some that already do this – although not tuneable, they work noticeably better at getting rid of stuttery and vibration impacts.

Hmm. He doesn’t really say what his points of comparison are, I can see it making a difference compared to a standard lockon, but how about a foam grip?

    I just re-read the article.

‘Omni directional’ – ie, they can only rotate a 1-2mm…?

I think they float freely in any direction for a few mm rather than just twisting. I had a set of ESI foam grips but swapped them out for lock on a few weeks ago because I didn’t really like the feel of the foam.
The pricing maybe feels a bit better when you take into account that they sell replacement parts meaning the initial cost would be offset a bit over time. Still a pretty major outlay for grips though I agree, if they were <£50 I’d probably buy a set right now just to try them out!

    $100?

That’s up there with the cynical outfit who’ll sell you a mudguard for £50.

that video looks more than a 1-2 mm of rotation? looks a bit sketchy imagining it moving around like that, but I guess one really needs to try them

The Suspension Grips can’t spin on the handlebar, however, and their omnidirectional movement only adds up to about 3 or 4mm of so-called travel.

This float allows the grip to rotate back and forth by 3 or 4mm, and also move vertically by a few millimeters.

    Is confused.

Regardless, rotational travel sounds like a bad idea, but radial travel sounds like a good idea.

$110 grips do not sound like a good idea.

The surface of my Oury grips will move more than 1mm if you give them a good twist, that’s part of what makes them comfortable, not (just) the squish.

They do look well made but for that amount of money I’d want a bunch of other people to say very nice things about them before considering buying.

Suspension grips would probably make more difference on a hybrid rather than anything with large tyres or suspension.

Also thinking that foam/silicone grips would do a similar job. Coincidentally the postie just delivered me some grips and I went for foam ones as my hands are rather soft and mushy at the moment from lack of cycling.

The fact that the design of the box looks straight from the early 2000’s is enough to make me say IM OUT

Out. I have big squishy grips and big squishy hands already.
