Just curious are there real differences in quality between say XTR, XT and SLX?

Not fussed about weight

XT and slx as far as i know, weight difference only. multiple down shift, single upshift. XTR does double upshift aswell as multi downshift, which i actually considered pointless until last couple of months where i found myself thinking "i wish i could change up a couple at a time"

I run SLX and XTR, the XTR feels a tad nicer more to do with the metal shifter rather than plastic.

I cerntainly don't jump on the XTR bike from the SLX and think I must upgrade there is so little in it based on real world use. Of course XTR is lighter but it also much dearer ๐Ÿ™‚

The one's you are getting are brand new so will feel lovely. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I would agree with forge. I run XT now as the difference to XTR is minimal in performance but the difference in cost is huge. But I would have XTR if I could afford it.

I have XT on one bike and deore on the other, thing I like on the XT is the multi-directional shift. Dont notice a massive difference performance wise - there is a difference, but to me is minimal.

XT and XTR shifters run on sealed bearings - smoother, more durable and less likely to develop play, and IMO you can feel the difference ๐Ÿ™‚

i would advise anyone to get the nicest shifters they can afford and nto worry too much about the mech as the shifter makes much more difference ot shift quality and feel. they last forever and dont get trashed by rocks too.
