    Hi all,

I’m looking for some new tyres and am thinking Chunky Monky on the front Smorgasbord on the rear (both in 26″ single compound)

Will these set up and be alright tubeless? The 650b versions say they’re a tubeless tyre, but the 26 doesn’t say

There’s 25% off at the moment, so they work out about £38 with delivery

Is there anything else I should be looking at around that price for good all round tyre?

    Cheers

Bought the same tyres last year and they went up tubeless fine and they seem to work ok as a combo, more suited to rocky terrain than anything muddy as found them not great in mud but rocks and hardpack/trail centre they are great

    They go tubeless really easily.

Any reason to not get the dual compound version?

my 29 Chunky Monkeys are up…. I’ve had a few minor issues with losing pressure on the rear, but i think i’m there now.

Just bought specialised purgatory grid 2br from sigma sport 26×2.3 £20 each…
Way way better than the on one tyres and a doddle to set up tubeless.
I struggled with the smorgasbords to get them to seal.

Re nixie: I heard somewhere that the dual compound were a bit squirmy under cornering and wouldn’t last as long either

What are the purgs like f+r? I’ve always run something a bit chunkier on the front to the rear

Not riding anything very gnar, no rock gardens or anything like that (not yet anyway, maybe next yer)

I like them, I’m in the peak so lots of rocks.. they work for me. The smorgs (I have them on my HT) although big, seem very unpredictable.

CM equals Purg imho. Both in value, being piss easy to set up tubeless, and grip.

I use both all yr round on different bikes.

CM i hated on the front. threatened to put me on my arse a number of times until it did. tends to be a mix of loam/roots and flint where i ride. also 26″.
love it on the back though, hardtail, so appreciate a nice bit of cush, and sidewall protection.
easy to set up ghetto tubeless.
run a butcher on the front currently, the cheap version, which is wet on the sides all the time, despite being 6 months old. not a problem as such but just so you know.

Thanks all, ended up ordering some grid purgatorys from sigma sport, £35 for the pair after getting £5 off by signing up to their newsletter
