I’ve got a conjoined twin on the top of my head, which I am told is a sebaceous cyst

I’ve had it for probably ten years now, and over time it has grown from a 5p size to a 10p size.

I often fiddle with it when I am thinking.

I have toyed with the idea of having it removed, and I set this as the year to make it happen.

Has anybody else had them taken out, did it grow back, and is there really a need to have a biopsy of it done?

I did once try to take it out with a mate while pissed, but that ended with a scalpel in my head, a fair bit of blood, and a lot of laughter.

Yes I’ve had two taken off my back and chest. Both were done under a local at the lumps and bumps clinic at my surgery. They looked like small strawberries. The Dr sent them off for checking but nothing ever came back. I would get yours taken off as they are irritating and quite obvious if you’re bald and shiny. There will be a small scar.

A mate of mine had a big one around her jaw, she had it removed last year and no sign of damage.

I had a whopper of one on my arse that was the size of a golf ball, I squeezed it until it burst one Christmas week took weeks to fully drain, stank and came back regularly for the first couple of months. Gone now though, would recommend surgical rather than my method.

Had one removed from my left shoulder/back.

A few years later I got another one pretty close to the first. Had that out too. Both done by appointment at the GP surgery. Local anaesthetic, no problems.

About 10 years on I think another is just starting to show nearby.

Just a bit unsightly on my otherwise beach ready body 😉

Prawny’s whopper on his bum sounds like a large boil. My layman’s understanding is that a cyst is a lump of sebum that has been unable to escape from the skin and gone hard whereas a boil is an active bacterial infection.

Recently read an autobiography about the sex life of a set of Scottish conjoined twins……Oor Wullie!

I had one surgically removed under a local from under my arm about 25 years ago and one that spontaneously burst after having had it for 10 years, leaked foul smelling gunk for a week or so despite regular self inflicted squeezings before going completely.

I’d go for the surgical option given a choice.

I’ve had about a dozen removed in 3 or 4 sittings over 15 years. When I first went to the Dr they did it in the minor surgery clinic, but last time they weren’t too keen, but agreed because one was rubbing under my bike helmet, so I was sent to the plastic surgeon at the local hospital who then found 4 more to take out while he was at it! Always had them checked and never any issues. My scalp is now covered in tiny scars, but you can’t see them under my hair.

Looks like that i seem to recall being able to squeeze it out years ago but not any more.

you can make a small nick in it with a scalpel blade to drain it if you’re brave.

Docs said it was a sebaceous cyst and it was exactly to same as the ones on youtube. Semi solid goo in there. Smelled like cheesey feet.

^Last time I tried that with my newly appointed Dr mate, well not really a doctor, he was in charge of the scalpel, we were laughing so hard, he just stuck it in the top of my head, followed by a long long long flow of blood.

Maybe we should have tried it sober.

had two removed about 3 years ago – 1 from top of forehead (just above hair line) and one from my cheek. They were tiny in comparison to your beauty – and they hurt like hell once the drugs had worn off!

Seeing how much they pulled out of my two small ones was quite shocking, I’d probably not ask to witness the results if I was you!

Get it done though – you never know who/what might be taking root underneath!

Cysts don’t really smell aside from maybe a bit cheesy unless there is a secondary infection.

Staph infections however…

An infected insect bite of mine generated goo of various colours varying from yellow, to brown (yellow +blood) to finally a nice pea green.

I was left with a pea sized holed in my arm with a malteser sized void underneath.

That was a fun couple of weeks draining that bastard thing twice a day…

Had one removed from my back a couple of weeks ago in the local surgery. Dr put Classic FM on in the background and other than a bit of “tugging” (ooer) didnt feel a thing. Given the way work has been recently it was the most relaxing 30 mins I have had for ages!

A very uncomfortable few days in hospital before it got removed under general.

It will grow back if you lance it as the cyst bed has to be removed.

I had one on the top of my head that the gp wouldn’t remove because it wasn’t dangerous or causing pain and it was hidden by my hair. It did cause irritation when I wore a helmet and it looked like I was growing another head when I had my hair cut short.

I cut a large ‘X’ on top of it with a scalpel and removed it myself with tweezers. It was a massive white sac filled with gunk. It left a marble sized hole when pressed but over time it’s firmed up again. Now when my hair is cut short you can’t even see a scar.

not me but a work colleague. he had one directly on top of his head and with his classic male pattern baldness it looked exactly like a nipple.

I never mentioned it until he had it removed last month after which I queried him on it and he told me it was a sebaceous cyst and his wife insisted on it being removed.

We’ve all been there.

I’ve had three small ones removed from my head over the years with a local and a willing GP no issues or side effects and didn’t come back.

Had one on my back that got infected (very painful) get rid of it before it gets an infection as you have to deal with pain and let infection clear up before they can remove it.

My old man used to have a large cyst on his head – one day it just sorted it self out and never came back (he’d had it for 30 years)

My ex gf gets them on her head and has had some removed in a clinic.

She hit her head a few years ago and one became infected, she asked me to look at it and as I parted her hair it fired a small grapes worth of pus at me. Kind of lost my appetite

I had on the size of a small pea removed from just below my cheek bone (in the soft part of my face).

It was done privately under local. Painless but the tugging was unpleasant. I’ve the faintest of 6mm-long scars. Mine was around 8 years ago and can’t feel anything there now. Mine was biopsied. I think it’s just a better-safe-than-sorry thing to do with any kind of lump.

No matter what I intend to watch on YouTube I always end up watching cysts and blackheads being popped.

The ones that come out like party string are a particular favourite.

I’m actually having a mini harvest from my head this morning. Usually have 3-5 exised every year from my scalp. When I go bald my nut is going to be a patchwork of scar tissue!
