Currently running sram 11 speed and need a new crankset and chainring. wondering if I should just stick an eagle 12 speed crankset and chainring on with a view to upgrading everything else to 12 speed later – likely to be real world compatibility issues with the 11 speed chain and 12 speed chainring ?

Eagle runs fine with any existing narrow wide chainring, despite what SRAM would tell you…

Upgrade to Eagle by all means, I have, but don’t feel the need to buy the crank/ring too if you don’t want to.

Thanks mboy, buying the crankset with chainring so just wondering how that will work with my existing 11 speed chain.

crankset is quite a premium for the decal, not sure there is any difference from the current XX1 arms (at least for the XX1 Eagle), X01 Eagle are foam filled or something so weigh slightly more

you could fit an eagle ring to an older “new” XX1/X01/GX-1400 whatever for a lot less than the complete eagle chainset

    What dirtyrider said…

New SRAM XX/XO 12spd cranks are way overpriced for what they are IMO. The only reason to buy would be for the new chainrings, which are available seperately and fit any GXP crank anyway.

Personally, happy with Raceface cranks and chainring so carried on running them with Eagle.
