Serious question – do you not believe that Jesus Christ actually did live at some point. The whole story around the son of god and eating easter eggs malarky is obviously bobbins but I do believe there was a person that existed that the whole story originally sprung from.

There’s a very strong emphasis on sensory stimuli…bells, smells, thick velvety furnishings and stained glass windows, etc.

The use of ‘familiar surroundings’ may be a way of re-orientating the reincarnated, kind of like product-placement, as a way of reinforcing a particular brand of religion.

There may well have been a person who was mythologised in writings many of which were written years and years after the events but that person was not the son of a non existent god, did not actually perform miracles and did not rise from the dead.
