Dark blue chino style next trousers, shorts in warmer months (Mar/Apr-Nov), button down casual shirt is my usual approach to life.
I have some full blue 37s (I think) for leaving here and using when cycling in. Then todays ‘for nice’ 38s.
I’m not sartorially fixated and work in ‘tech’ so no dress code to speak of. T-shirts and shorts are fine as long as you know what you are doing and build robots 🙂
Even as a man with a running shoe problem there’s no way I’d wear Pegasus to the office. I’m intrigued what the rest of the ensemble is…
I’ve been wearing Pegasus 3 Goretex trail shoes to work, with jeans. Not sure I’d want to wear them actually running as the heel feels massive.
If I wore the trainers in the OP my mates would take the piss forever. Funny isn’t it, what’s acceptable is determined to an extent by stuff you liked when you were a kid, even 20+ years later.
Nike air force 1 mid in dubious “colour way”, late 40s with a wiff of failed accountant about me. Totally immune to Rusty Spanners assessment – where’s my prize.
In fact, let me trigger you all by saying they’re my favorite pair of kicks I own!
Christ I currently have Nike air span 2s, Adidas munchens, 3 pairs pairs of New balance somethingorothers, some amazing split tongue ASICS, vans, and 2 pairs of DCs on rotation. I don’t know what I am!!…
@TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsSTR – Puma G Vila’s are absolute classics, from the golden age. I’ve never done white trainers but I’d add Adidas Lendl Pros to that too
Small company accountant’s footwear, for the three times a year they would not be wearing suit trousers and M&S blue stripey shirt with pen in the pocket…
Don’t really ‘do’ trainers (beyond way too many pairs of riding shoes), but my current foot demographic is 50% black on black Superstars and 50% Five Ten Sleuth. Up until a couple of years ago was pretty much exclusively Vans and DC but they’ve gone off the boil a bit IMO.
Small company accountant’s footwear, for the three times a year they would not be wearing suit trousers and M&S blue stripey shirt with pen in the pocket…
Oh I dunno…. back in the day I remember them being worn by the most accomplished shoplifters and car thieves
My most worn shoes of the last few years. I will leave you horrible lot to speculate on what I matched them up with. A cheeky mert and brown paper bag perhaps!
I like their Terrex range but not a fan of the old school Adidas, they’re just so boring and all look the same. It’s like saying you’re a football fan without wearing any obvious football regalia.
Air Max are the aspirational footwear of proper neds. I did have a pair years ago but were all black. A junkie asked if he could buy them off me, enough said.
However, salvation is at hand.JD sports are currently disposing of Adidas Los Angeles in various colours for £50.Obviously, one should only be seen in Samba (Super for preference), Superstar or Stan Smith, but Los Angeles are a pleasant palate cleanser.
Sorry to say but my 15y/o got a pair of superstars for her birthday this and my 12 year old told me Jordan 4s are old news and that superstars were what are leng. Adidas classics are back in with the yoot.
It’s like saying you’re a football fan without wearing any obvious football regalia
That’s kind of the point. Maybe you should learn some history? You do know that no real self-respecting football fan would ever be seen dead in any ‘football regalia’, right? Replica shirts are like half n half scarfs. Strictly for kids and tourists
This is a fantastic documentary about football ‘casuals’ and the huge impact the whole movement had on fashion in this country and worldwide. The main catalyst for this country now being seen as a setter and exporter of ‘streetwear’
Half the stuff people are talking about here only exists because of what was going on in this country on the terraces in the 80’s and 90’s.
For example: when Borg played Macenroe in the Wimbledon final, one wore Fila, one wore Sergio Tachini. Neither we’re officially imported into the UK at the time, yet all were worn all over the terraces
For example: when Borg played Macenroe in the Wimbledon final, one wore Fila, one wore Ellesse. Neither we’re officially imported into the UK at the time, yet all we’re worn all over the terraces
School trips to Europe as a kid were eye opening:
Several naughty boys and girls returned with additional suitcases, loaded with thousands of quids worth of pilfered sportswear.
Watch the documentary mate. It’s all in there. When Liverpool we’re dominating Europe on the pitch, their fans were having a field day liberating expensive European sportswear from continental shops
I had a job years ago designing the marketing for a shop next to Piccadilly records on Market Steet in town who sold it all. It was legit. He hired a big van, got his mates to chip in all they had, drove to Adidas HQ in Germany and bought up all the styles and colourways they didn’t officially import into the UK. Mad green and red Trimm Trabs and stuff. Made a fortune.
Loads of UK fashion labels were set up of the back of this kind of stuff
I’m not a label freak, but I do like Adidas stuff (even some of that Moncler colab above). Probably because the 3 stripes branding is so synonymous with sports, and was very prominent in my early youth. I particularly like some of the Adidas Originals stuff, and at one point had some really nice Y3 trainers I got very cheap in a sale. But I have noticed that the mainstream UK imported stuff is very bland and a bit boring compared to some of the lines you can find in other countries/parts of the world. I used to know a fair few South Americans, and they would bring over Adidas gear that you’d never see over here, in colour combos that were a lot wilder than the typical UK items. Maybe Adidas had factories in South America, I’m not sure. But brands often have regional variations and entire alternative product lines according to the local markets. A shame, because lot of the UK stuff is pretty drab right now.
