I’m now commuting by bike in all weathers, and am using my Oakleys with a range of lenses according to conditions: polarized, prizm off road and clear. In really bad weather the rain build up on the lenses can be a problem , so I was wondering about treating them with rainx. Oakley suggest not using anything but their own cleaning bag on their lenses, and I’m a bit concerned about how they may react. I’ll generally be using the clear lenses or prizm when it rains…any thoughts on whether this may damage them in the long term? I guess the clear are likely to have less coatings on (and are also the cheapest) so may be the best for experimenting on….

I have used it on many pairs of glasses over the years without issues.  glass lenses, plastic lenses, coated lenses but only cheap glasses

As an alternative, I used Oakley nanoclear the other day for the first time & was extremely impressed.

Or fairy liquid if you’re pushed, smear it on, and polish it off. Used rainex without any issues

Thanks all…I’ll try it on the clear lenses first and see how I go…

I regularly use washing up liquid on my clear and Prism Road Oakley lenses. Definitely helps a bit and hasn’t harmed the lenses.

use baby shampoo instead of washing up liquid, not so abrasive.

RainX say not to use it on motorcycle visors, and I can see why Oakley lenses should be different, I wouldn’t but your call.

Have done this many years ago but don’t do it now.

It didn’t affect the glasses but I’m not sure it helped that much otherwise I’d probably still be doing.

Glasses an real rain are a pain especially dark wet and bright lights scenario 🙂

Use nikwax visor clear on my motorbike but not sure if it’s still available. Looks like milk and smells of silicone sealant.
