They are cheap, use external bearings, are they any good? Is the Diabolus (sp?) any good? Very heavy?

Diabalous cranks have a big habit of cracking the chainring tabs off when you hit the bash guard etc and the bb’s don’t last very well. Saint’s are well worth the extra.

But are there any other cranks in 83/100mm that are that cheap (circa 20 quid)?

Is that new or used? Used original saints are bombproof and around 40, twice as much but they’ll last 5 times as long.

I have the original Saints too, 68/73mm but need cranks to fit 100mm BB shell and used Diabs are dirt cheap. I wish I could fit the Saints but can’t see how. Or what other cranks will fit and still be cheap – under 50 quid.

For that money, nothing comes close. Although the bb’s are crap. I take it they are for a fat bike? Not many dh bikes run that setup these days.

Yep, toying up with the idea. Several Shimano BB’s in the toolbox, just the bleeding chainset is a problem. Don’t want one that weights more than the frame though and the RF seems rather heavy. Might give it a go though…

sure you can’t find a sq taper c/set or something?

if its a fatbike, i doubt its gonna snap an axel, the BBs will last a lot longer etc

I would go for ST but… what BB?

Doubt you will find a sq bb in that size. I wanted an 83mm for a dh bike, finding one was impossible. The rf crank arms are solid. You won’t have any probs, and for £20 I would get a set and drill them, miid 90’s weight weenie style.

Ah yse if you need 100mm bb cranks your choices are very limited. If they’re for a fat bike then crack whackage is likely to be less of a problem so they might be ok, if you want a bash maybe run an mrp xcg off the bb rather than a crank mounted one to protect them.
