We will be in touch
I have an extension, 1980s ish which suffers fairly badly with moisture. The patio doors are soaked in the morning. I suspect the windows and roof are the main culprit, and these are being addressed, however the concrete floor under the carpet also feels cold and damp.
I'm getting laminate flooring fitted next week, before I do will it do any damage if I seal the concrete floor with PVA first?
Laying laminate on concrete you should be using a damp proof membrane on the floor anyway (might be built in to the underlay)
Yeah, there will be a damp proof underlay. That should probably do it.
Thanks
I PVA'd just to keep the dust down and make it easier to stick the DPM down in places to stop it moving round.
Pva is water soluble, if it gets damp while under the floor then it will regress back into its liquid form, better to use a purpose primer like sbr maybe
If if is actually damp I wouldn't be putting anything wooden down without addressing the problem first.
When you say the roof and widows are the issue what do you mean, are they leaking. Condensation on the doors is caused by the external cold striking onto the warm damp atmosphere in the extension.

I second that
Pva does nothing, use an sbr, like jim said.
We just laid a new wooden floor and had to use DPM as it was still not dry enough after 8 weeks.
I used Sika rapid dry DPM, quick and easy job to roller on
