Every time I listen to Screamadelica I get that acid taste/feeling in the back of my throat. When I hear Massive Attack I can feel my jaw start clamping like I’m coming down. Play DJ Tim & Misjah’s Access though… 8)

Just watched the documentary. Pretty interesting all in all, but WTF was Josh Homme on it for?

I’m thinking that it was an ironic attempt to juxtapose the genius of screamadelica with a possible figurehead of how awful rock music would have been without it?

Bit of Morcheeba and Orbital (In Sides) worked for me. If I was feeling particularly hippyesque Deep Forest or Enigma entered the CD tray!

i ‘remember’ one night at uni being particularly broken but somehow managed to get a really hot blonde back to my room.

problem was my carpet had this crazy patchwork pattern on it.

so instead of probably having the best night of my life i couldnt help but stare at the carpet for about 2 hours.

she left after about 10 mins.

was listening to spacemen 3 recurring !

am I the only person who didn’t buy an album between 1989 and 1994.. preferring to rely on the latest tapes from the radio shows.. raves and parties..?

No I imagine loads of people missed out on some really good music.

    Like Stereolab

I have to sadly readily admit to short changing myself musically as a superciliously rebellious adolescent..

with plenty of flouncy petulant ‘why are you buying and listening to that commercialised bollo you dirty traitor..!? don’t you know you are kneeling at the alter of our oppressors when you give money to the capitalist system maaaaaaan..’
(in fact it was probably more likely that I just shot the eager DJ a withering look and made some weird nasal sound of disapproval before vigorously not listening )

what a shame.. and what a nob.. I’m just disappointed that it took me so long to grow out of that phase..

I know this was recorded in 97…

    ah well.. in that case..

Paul Daley did a superb set for the Breezeblock a few years ago. I have a copy somewhere, but it’s amazing; totally relaxing and would be ideal for a long night.

Failing that, go early and choose some 808 State. Pacific State would be somehting I would listent to.

I’m a massive dance fan and even so I’d still go with primal scream. Listen to it on my commute weekly ( 20 years or so)later. Having said that – there’ll all awesome. 😆

NIN downward spiral 😉 my all time favourite album (i know it isn’t the type of music you were talking about, but it should be right up there on the greatest albums list. 🙂

    And Bomb the Bass, Clear.

That, Leftism, Dubnobasswithmyheadman and Spearhead’s Home were a good slice of the soundtrack to a couple of summers on bikes, up hills, sunsets, spliffs and beers…
