I’ve an old pair of 7mesh shorts that look very similar to the Farside, but are very baggy. They’re not in too bad a condition, so am contemplating having them altered, not sure how much it’d be though.

Looked at the Rab Cinder shorts but they look pretty baggy in their pics. I have had a pair of their walking shorts before that I used for biking, they were similar material as the 7mesh ones above but not a great cut on the bike, ok for an hour or two but not all day rides.

What’s the M&S or H&M shorts you have?

£110 for a pair of shorts. Are they having a giraffe?

I get on really well with the Endura GV500 shorts. Slimmish fit in the leg compared with conventional baggies and at 32-33 waist the M is perfect for me.  They’re definitely summer weight though.

To be fair, I have never had a sizing problem with any of Endura’s kit and I have quite a lot of it.  I’ve obviously been lucky, judging by others’ comments.

@iainc cheers for the offer, but according to Endura’s size guide I’d need a size small.

Bought another pair of Gore Exolore so know they’ll be decent and will fit, only green left though.  Also bought a pair of 7mesh Farside, in blue. Fingers crossed they’re decent.

Both go against my ethos of only grey/black shorts, but were bought together for less than £95 delivered, which is at least decent value.

Wasn’t a fan of the Stolen Goat shorts, too light/loose for my tastes.

For most of the reasons listed above I just don’t really like overshorts full stop but I think on the back of a recommendation from Tracy on another thread I picked up some cheap Altura All Roads shorts which are relatively tapered, heavyweight enough fabric not to be flappy or rusty and useable pockets.

    +1 Endura GV500

Light, not too baggy, good length. Shame the colours are limited and bland.

But the market is crying out for more gravel shorts.

Sportful Giaras here too. 30″ waist and size small. Find it very hard to find shorts that wouldn’t fit 2 of me in them but these are perfect. Good pockets too, use them for commuting.

Bought the Chapeau in medium off the back of this thread. Very light material, minimal styling touches and a tapered slim fit to the top of the knee. Exactly what I (and the OP) was after in terms of fit and weight.

Came with a free ‘wash mitt’, rather have haribo.

Another vote for GV500s. Only shorts so far where the fit is as expected for quoted size – others are huge in the waist.
