seeing as it’s STW and everyone here has a log burner…….. does anyone burn paper ‘logs’?

Reason being that at work we have a waste stream of tons of clean Kraft (brown) paper that just gets skipped. I have a 60ton hydraulic press and the means of making a substantial steel mould.

Just wondering if it’s worth pursuing for fuel for own log burner

    More than likley, cheap heat

I tried it the old way years ago soaking newspapers and putting them through a press. Not very good at all. You’ll be hard pushed to get the paper dense enough to be worth the effort and subsequent short burn time.

A lot of hassle for not particularly good results

The results we’ve got from a made for the job hand press have been pretty poor. A lot of work for not much heat.

We did it for a few years, hand press thingy, bit like this clicky

It was OK as a means to get rid of all our paper and the kids found it fun making the bricks.

Heck of a lot of mess and faff. Burns OK but better used to bulk out a burn load, we would normally burn one wood log with one/two paper logs.

Produces a great deal of ash.

We’ve not done it in a while as it takes a fair bit of space up drying the logs.

    clean Kraft (brown) paper

That used to be worth quite a bit as scrap for recycling.
