I’ve just had some photo’s printed by Snapfish and they’ve very dull compared to how they look on icloud. Is there anyone that you’d recommend?

This might sound stupid but (assuming the image on icloud is the same file as supplied for print) does icloud have some silly auto filter thing applied on display?

I seem to recall something similar from years ago and it turned out the host wasn’t displaying an unfiltered image but if you downloaded the image you got an original. Upshot was it always looked less good on any other platform (I guess making their’s more sellable) and was especially annoying for prints – where you could easily print the least good image because it looked best with the auto filter applied.

How did you get the photo from iCloud to Snapfish? (Assume you chose glossy prints not Matt as well!!)

    Always been happy with Photobox.

Look at the mage on icloud and then upload direct from the phone using the Ap.

Monitors and screens are very bright, might be your photos are a little dark but you don’t notice on your screen. Photo editors calibrate their monitors to get this right, not easy without the kit. If you want the best prints for framing you can use whitewall and i seem to remember they’ll optimise brightness for you as an option. Not the cheapest so not ideal if you want lots, but ive been happy with the quality for good photo prints that you’ll want to display.

+1 this. Print is not ‘backlit’.

Agree try Photobox. I use them for all my ‘holiday snaps’. Whitewall for pro – super costly and not sure it’s needed for you.

You might find you need to do a mass-edit to each of the images to add a bit of vibrance, to ACCOUNT for print being dull.

I’ve found DS Colour Labs to be good over the years.
Better than Photobox for large prints but for normal album sizes both come out pretty accurate from what I can tell. Certainly not dull in any way.

I get some a few years ago from photo box and the quality and colour were great, but they missed half the order and never sent what was missing even after several assurances. The Snapfish ones are just dull. It’s not about the screen, it’s just the photos. It’s like everyone’s faces are in shadow.

    1. Be sure your monitor is set up properly.
    2. Make sure you’re sending the JPEG not the RAW file (unlikely, but possible)

Shame apple stopped its iCloud/iPhoto books service. I got some really nice products from that.

    DS Color Labs are good.
