New 9POint8 slackening ‘headset’ for IS headsets

This was mentioned by @cs645 on another thread, but I thought it deserves its own.

9Point8 have come out with a way of slackening off IS headsets – basically a screw together tube that seats on the IS ‘cups’ and puts the bearings outboard of the headtube.

The effect is ~1.5 degrees slacker with, apparently, only small changes (subjective, yes) to bb-height, reach and stack – the bulk of the changes are offset by the extra slackness.

Interested to try on my MK1 Hightower.. should make it about a 65.5 degree HA.

I’ve been doing the numbers on mine, and would need a very low stack stem indeed- total steerer tube projection is only 52mm. So I’d need a 30mm stack stem, which does exist.

That’s quite clever. Actually thinking about it, the entire reason I didn’t get the carbon version of my bike is that you couldn’t angleset it while you can with the alu. Obviously I’m a nerd, but, new options are good.
