I’d say the main differences between this route and the red at Llandegla are that the climbs are steeper and rockier, and the descents, whilst not particularly technical are loose, muddy, slippy, and rocky in places, all of which you don’t really get at Llandegla. There’s a fair bit of cheek on that route, but you’d probably be ok if you stuck to the bridleways, although the climbs are still on the steep side.

Rockhopper70 at the moment it’s very muddy and has been torn up badly in a few places by the recent floodwaters. On that route the 2nd and 3rd descents are on the cheeky side of things, slippy and sloppy, and the 3rd (last) descent has a big messy ditch/drop thing in the middle that could catch out an inexperienced rider.

This route is probably a better choice for kids, not cheeky, pretty solid underfoot, nothing very technical but still good fun. There’s a little bit of tarmac towards the end through the golf club but it’s very quiet, and there’s a load of gates to climb over in the middle (it’s a permissive bridleway but they leave the gates locked for some reason). You could miss off the second loop if things are looking ropey after the first climb…

Strava featuring cock and balls at 12.6 km.

About 1km after passing Dick Hill. 😀
