We will be in touch
Hi holidays this year we're using JET2 from Leeds/Bradford paid the extra £25 each way for the bikes but the limit is 20Kg previouly flown with Easyjet and their limit was 32Kg. What are peoples experiences flying with JET2 as I'd hate to have to stump up any excess baggage allowance especially at £10/kg 🙁
Come on chaps and chappesses someone must've have had experience with JET2 whether it be good or bad.
From the website it looks like sporting goods can weigh a max of 20kg on top of your normal baggage.
Phone them and ask?
just flew with ryanair. not jet2...
but they also state 20kg and they dont eff about either. 20 euro per 1kg over the limit on the way back.
we didnt get weighed on the way out. then we used up all the energy drink and stuff we'd taken, came back considerably lighter but when weighed in were collectively 12kg over our limit.
no backing down. lose it or pay 240 euros... had to wear everything we had taken, fill our pockets with stuff etc. etc. right faff.
this was road bikes too... IMO you WILL NOT get an MTB in a proper bike bag with a camelback and a pump to weigh less than 20kg.
cost us £80 each too for this cr*p limit. proper joke.
You don't have to bag them- cardboard box and your looking at 2kg for the packaging.
Hmm, smells highly, going to have to strip things right down. Can't remember the weight of the bikes think I'd better check this weekend. Liking the idea of a cardboard box instead of the bike bag that I used last year
When they bung it on the scales, shove your foot under one corner to help 'balance' it. Magically it will be lighter.
Hi, 4 of us have flown with jet 2 from lds bfd in 08 and 09, bike weight limit was 20kg, does not matter if its in a box or bag, pay in advance or at desk, in advance is easier and also check in on line if you can it`s a lot quicker. We tried the old foot under the box routine at Liverpool with easyjet, it took that long on the scales my foot started shaking and the check in assistant wondered what was wrong with the scales ! i think it is 17 or 18 kg case limit too, but hand luggage is a decent amount, hope this helps ? i took a kona coiler which weighed 37lb on its own, but i took off disc rotors, chain, pedals and put them in my suitcase, also used an old bike box free from bike shop, both wheels out, plenty of 22mm pipe insulation, tie wrap rear mech to inside of chainstay, saddle and seatpost out, but in box. The bike cardboard boxes weigh a lot less than the bike bags, but it is your decision.
