It’s the 1st time I’ve bought a bike without a proper look/test ride. Can someone tell me that I’m not crackers and that I’ll be having a really good time on it when it comes in a couple of months.

YT make great bikes, I have a tues pro. I’m not an owner from new, so I can’t comment on warranty issues, but I have contacted YT for information on sizes and received replies within a couple of days.

Judging by the amount I saw at BPW recently there’s bugger all wrong with them!….very popular bikes and with good reason.

How many do you see secondhand? You chose well.

My pal has just got one. Great bike amazing valve. I’m thinking about ordering one so I’ve pestered every owner I’ve seen on one. The only think I’ve heard a few times is go a size up because they are quite short in the TT
One guy was 6 foot ish on a medium and wasn’t enjoying it.
My pal is 5.10 ish and has a large and it fits perfect. I’m about the same height and wouldn’t consider any smaller than large.

I am about 10 rides in on the new pro race. I am 6ft bang on and have the large. IMO it is too short in the TT but only just. Once you have it set up it does ride incredibly well. For the price and quality I have no regrets what so ever. If you don’t get on with it once you have ordered, sell the frame, buy a second hand nomad frame and swap the kit over. That was always my fall back option but I won’t be going there..

If it’s the one with the E13 hubs, get some spare pawl springs in advance. You will need them. And maybe some more reliable wheels!.

The only problem is the world and his pal will have one soon. Heres a pic taken recently at ‘degla

Abit like the Orange Five craze a few years back 😆

The mark of a good bike though is how many pop up secondhand – not that many huh? Look at Bronson’s etc- I bet a fair few of those have been sold and how many around to buy used? (although on SC’s people are still paying off the APR/repayments for a couple of years yet…)

chrisdiesel- absolutely nowt wrong with your Lapierre- tbh I bet its more than comparable so why change? Kit is good too. It’d be change for change sake in your situation.

Being 6 foot I was right on the border between M and L on the YT sizing guide. Plenty of advice on the sizing issue on the forums though so went for the L.

I’ve gone for the CF Comp 1 if anyone has any specific feedback on that model.

    Some more more Hora gold?

The YT’s are popular. It’s certainly good VFM & seems based on reviews to ride well (although its hard to find a bad user review of a bike, when someone has a vested interest having dropped thousands on one).

Personally I think there is better for the money. But my requirements may be different. I’d rather have a Strive.

The one thing that would concern me is there seems to be quite a lot of cracked carbon frames, and no, not the original seatstay issue – cracks appearing in 2/3 places on the front triangles too.

Considering your own bike history Hora, I’m not sure your opinions are entirely valid

They are so popular and common, far too common for my liking. At Ae forest Enduro 2 weeks ago, they were by far the most common bike there. Whereas me, I didnt see anyone else on an Evil Uprising..

It wasn’t actually in relation to that part of your comment.

However, please feel free to share your knowledge on the buying methods used by the general public with the SC dealer network, should make for some interesting reading.

Edward2000 who cares if they are common. At the end of the day we buy bikes to ride. The Capras ride incredibly well and suit a lot of people. I’d understand your point if we were a group of women turning up at a wedding in the same dress but were not…..

Don’t think Canyon can match them spec-wise, but having sat on the new Strive, I’d much prefer the geometry.

if you’re that worried about the carbon cracking then you could always go for the alloy version. from what i have read so far on them the weight difference isnt all that much…but the price difference is…just under £2k or just over £2k depending on which model you go for

My riding buddy has one, he loves it but as mentioned earlier he has had problems with the e13 hubs, plus a rather nasty crack developing on the top tube where it fell over onto a weight stack.
I had a quick go on it the other week and i nearly made it up to the top of the monster field on Whins Fell in the Trough of Bowland, which is normally only doable in the dry (for me). I would have made it if only it had a triple 🙁

Lapierre had some issues with cracks didn’t they?

I’d say its people really loving/riding their bikes harder than they would on a previous one that they owned.

True, but it could be the best spec in the world for £5, but if it doesn’t fit me (or have a bottle mount!), it’s no good!

    or have a bottle mount!

Glad I’m not the only one who looks for that in a bike still!

The Strive is at the top of my lust list at the moment. Still can’t decide if the geometry thing is a genuinely great or one of those one hit wonders that we’ll guffaw about in 20 years time.

Yeah your right, each to their own. I jut like riding bikes which are a bit boutique and different from the masses I guess. I’ve told my friend to buy one, they are great v for m and judging by what people say about them too they are great bikes.

If there was a BOS-equipped Strive on sale somewhere, I’d have to be dragged away.

Had one, hated it, sold it after a couple of months.

No doubt they’re amazing value and the reviews are really good, but it is a bike designed for a purpose and that wasn’t what 90% of my rides were! Replaced mine with a mojo HD3 which is much more suited ot my riding.

You wont regret buying one if you know what to expect.

Love mine. So capable. 34T is a bit much on the front though. Wish they came with a 32 as standard!

Haven’t read all the other posts but suffice to say it is without doubt the best bike I have ever owned (and I’ve had a few).

I went for the carbon 2x version, which I’ve just changed to a 1×10 OneUp arrangement. The jury’s out on both the 2x and 1x setups, there are pros and cons for each.

No reliability issues with the wheels yet despite the repeated doom-mongering on here that they’re rubbish. In fact (touch wood) it has performed faultlessly in some pretty crappy weather conditions since just before Xmas.

For what it’s worth my Strava downhill times (and a few ups too) are being smashed on the new bike and it’s definitely not the rider that has improved. The numbers don’t lie!!

Oh and again for what it’s worth, on the sizing issue, I’m 5’9.5″ and got a Large, which it suits me just fine!

Hmm, there is something a little ‘Jimmy Saville’ about it 😕

Although the truth is not widely known I don’t think, so let’s just keep shtum!
