I’ve just built up a px full monty sl for commuting and trips to the shops. I’m thinking I’d like a rack for it for beer runs that I can remove easily when not in use. I’d quite like a front rack if possible, can anyone think of anything? I know front racks on carbon forks is a no-no but it would be light loads only really.

    Cheers,

FWIW both Specialized and Trek make carbon forks with lowrider mounts. You’ll usually find them fitted to hybrid/city/fitness bikes but you’ll see them elsewhere in the ranges too.

I’m guessing your current fork doesn’t have a forward-facing crown mount, or bosses on the legs, or forward-facing eyelets at the dropouts. In which case you’re going to struggle, I think.

Have you considered a Rixen & Kaul Vario Rack for the Kilckfix bar mount? (Seatpost mounts are also available.) Failing that, if you want easy on/off for occasional use, some sort of rear seatpost-mounted QR rack, but I’m not sure how stable they are.

Rixne & Kaul Shopper Plus bar bag is fantastic for shopping trips. You can disguise it by swapping to a traditional handlebar bag when out on real rides. Ride to shop, unclick, carry around shop loading goods. Afix and ride home. Takes about 10 kilos (more in fact). Rather enamoured with mine. Not just for shopping bikes.

Axiom do or did a low rider that didn’t need any mounts, not quick to take off tho.

Yeah, I guess the shopper basket is probably better for this than the Vario. The Klickfix system is nice: there’s a decent range of bags available, and you can also buy the adapter plates so you can easily hack all sorts of other bags onto it (there’s an example with a Podsacs dry bag somewhere in my Instagram).

Oh, and there’s the Thule Pack ‘n Pedal Rack…

I think it does have all of those mounts. I’ll check out those suggestions – cheers

I have a Nitto M18 on my Bokeh, and herself has a Rene Herse (Compass) UD1 mounted onto a Rodeo Adventure Labs Spork2.0 both with Nitto lamp holders as we run with dynamo lights.

If you have a hole at the crown and mid fork eyelets, a Specialized pizza rack will do exactly what you want. Doesn’t take much time to install/remove after you’ve set it up the first time.

Great yeah the pizza rack looks just the job – it’ll be onto px carbon forks though, i think it’ll be fine? as long as i’m not giving anyone a lift on the front 🙂

    Cheers
