I’m thinking about upgrading my disc brakes, I currently have hayes Mag xc. Fancy somthing with more stopping power, what is a good buy at the mo?

One of the cheapest ways to upgrade the power of a disc and improve the feel and moderation is to increase the size of the front disc. If you are running the standard setup with 6″ discs, try changing the front to a V7 (7″) or V8 (8″) rotor. You will also need a new adapter for the caliper, but these are fairly cheap.

If you are going to 7″ I would do the front and leave the rear alone. If you are going to 8″, I would also upgrade the rear to 7″ at the same time.
