Buying from Europe is a complete pain right now. Can’t remember which site, but one said they weren’t doing sales under £135 but would let you get right to the checkout but then was no way of selecting a source of payment. Deporvillage was high shipping cost and didn’t appeared to be tax/duty risk.

TradeInn and associated sites turns up on time and they’ve sorted the VAT on lower value sales at least.

Two recent orders from Depor Village – Pedals for about £60 came quickly with no extra charges. A dropper post for about 160 and this was delivered by DHL/was emailed before delivery to pay about £50 in charges and import duty.

got an order from bikeinn last weekend, was just over £200. no extra charges, invoice stated item cost, postage and import charges which equaled 20% vat

Sure is. Sending returns is even worse. A big contrast to before the end of last year when it was fairly seamless.

Still, think of all the extra sovereignty😏

No deporvillage specific but was attempting to buy forks from Star bike in Germany and they were around £550 but I was to pay Uk import and tax on arrival
Whereas if I ordered from bike discount they looked like they added the taxes etc to the price and the forks were about £750
Online ye can work out what you would pay with the cost of the goods

I am waiting for a frame that Bike Inn despatched on the 23rd April. BikeInn say it’lll be with me within a week but then they said that a week ago as well. They said to contact the couriers for an update. Dascher UK say its in Spain so they can’t see the status even though its their depot. I assume its stuck in a customs backlog waiting for some paperwork or the such. I think I’ll get Boris to send in the Navy once they’ve sorted the French out in Jersey

I suspect Boris is your problem not your solution.

Boris is a major problem for the planet! On the bright side skinsuit turned up in 5 days, no charges and it fits….. organised for the cross season 😉

Ordered from fitwheels in Poland. Over £135.

They invoice inc UK VAT. They mark the package for UPS to contact them for payment of VAT, which they do from the invoiced amount. UPS deliver to you.

Or you can pay fitwheels net of VAT, and they’ll mark the parcel for UPS to contact you for the tax. You get a text, pay them the VAT, plus £11.50 brokerage. They deliver.

Doesn’t seem to be point where the additional 15% import duty is charged. Yet.

Just had tyres delivered from Bikester using DPD. Just under £80 for the pair with no other charges.

Scam or unlucky? This was my third EU order since Brexit (different companies) with no charges and no invoice turning up later – never heard of that before.

Same as ned here. And I’ve also ordered a tyre from Bikester as taxes are now included.

Seems that (unsurprisingly) businesses are getting their heads around the situation.

    Brexit is still sh** though.

Ordered some shoes from Lake. Came promptly but not a great fit. Renting them is proving to be a pain.

Delivered in a day. A week and a half to return so far

Got a rear shock from deporvillage, unclear if vat was included, charged an additional £72 from parcel force, assuming they have charged vat on the value. However, invoices for what I paid deporvillage have vat applied, so effectively, I’ve paid vat twice.

Who do I contact to get the overpayment back, parcel force?

    Ta
