    Hi
Bike can no longer be covered by house insurance due to value limit.
I need a cycle specific policy. Cover required is for theft from the house and when locked up away from the home. (Outside pub).
    Suggestions please.

    Get a better home policy.

Even if it costs twice as much you’ll still be cheaper than specific cover. i’m with Aviva if it helps.

What is the maximum value allowed?

Pedal Cover – they are a home insurance policy that specialise in adding bikes.

Can’t remember exactly what the situation was but not silly limits, old for new, they don’t just send yiu a rubbish store voucher but will get you what you want.

Plus when I was quoted with them it was cheaper to go with them with the added bike cover than it was to insure with AA just contents and without the bike!

    I’m with eta.co.uk[/url].

Have claimed once, no issues. Be sure to look at the small print of whatever policy you get. Eta would only pay out once I’d proven that the bikes couldn’t be seen from the street through a window.

You could have a look at Yellow Jersey. Lots of cover, reasonably priced.

I’d also look in to Pedal Cover, I havent had the misfortune to have to claim but Darren the Broker seems really nice and the cover is tailored with cyclists in mine, bikes covered up to 10k each in the garage and away from home etc etc.

Would probably work out cheaper than a house insurance and a separate bike policy.

you would easily be able to insure a piece of jewellery to significant figures so why not a bike?

May be rephrase it as a specific item?

Also, to add with the Pedal Cover policy you can choose the limit and it’s not just for the bike but for kit as well.
They’re worth speaking to to get an idea of what is available.

Aviva was much cheaper for house and contents than Pedalcover for just contents, I have 4 decent bikes (£1k+) as a rough guide, will get the docs when I get home if I remember.

I’ve just moved to Pedalcover. Excellent service, policies and cover. Saved me a decent amount over my renewal price and now covered for any eventuality. Well worth a call for anyone thinking about it.

Just moved over to pedal cover as well, seems a great policy and very competitive.
Really easy to deal with and very knowledgeable
Saved over £100 and now got a much better policy.
Nice touch was a free pedalcover velopac with the documents this morning.
