    Hello all,

    the cables on my bike have started making an awfull creaking/cracking noise when the handlebars are turned, anybody got any easy cures? I dont really want to replace cable housing if I can help it…

    Creaky cables = rusty cable outers (in my experience).

    Replace them!

    Just grease the cables in the cable stops.

    Wot Clubber says. Pop the cables out of the stops, clean the grit out, smear of grease. Sorted.

    If you have an ally frame the creaking can resonate through the tubes quite loudly.

    cheers all, i’ll go with clubber and mary in the short term, come pay day I’ll replace them…they are getting a bit old.

    Had the same with some jagwire cables last week – I cracked and replaced them!
