Decided on a ride up Darwen and Play through rodlesworth woods instead of the usual Rivvy.
Jo posing at the top near the tower
Grant playing 'king of the castle' and 'Master of all he surveys'
Fab view from the top
Managing to get over the gate and planks (poser) He claimed it was skill I reckon it was luck
Tom not quite making it
I attempted the same gate/planks by the 'no skill and speed method' this however proved painful as the distance between the planks is exactly the wheelbase of a Cotic BFe with Lyriks on. Result = over the bars, a skuffed elbow and broken pride 😳
Great single track in Roddlesworth woods
and to finish a VERY steep and rooty chute that Jo made look really easy.
The trails are perfect round here at the moment, can't wait for Friday afternoon, Grizedale here we come. 😆
Yay, we're going Roddlesworth tomorrow again, looks good.
That chute is now on the list of things to conquer. I would not want to do that in the wet. At all.
Word from the bruise easily camp. Aloe Vera gel. None of that random shite, the proper decent stuff from Holland and Barrett. It helps, honestly. Stick it on before bed, no one will be the wiser. :O)
ok ok, whilst ownership of the tower may be in doubt, the moor is mine, all mine.
Seriously though, Darwen moor is in prime condition at the moment, just brilliant. Only problem we have is that we have to pass "blow job alley" on the way back and after a "horrendous" experience a few weeks ago, we are kind of reluctant to go back 😳
Yeah, I'm thinking public service announcements are needed on this one so we don't end up having 'horrendous' experiences this evening too. I think I'd quite like to go up to the tower, I've not been to the top yet and it needs done.
lowey – I've witnessed similar up by the lodge where the chavs go to swim in the sun, up by Delph sailing club. It was a group of guys and a lady though, not a blue-on-blue act.
Where is this DH to Longworth Clough you speak of? Can you point to it on a map?
Lowey, I was born in Darwen and I would have to say that those people you speak of are probably from Blackburn with Darwen being quite homophobic and all! very funny indeed. I have forwarded it to my mate who still lives there !
did 50 miles on the road bike last night from Blackburn over moors and looping round Rivvy/Belmont /bolton end a couple of times what is this mountain biking you speak of?

Cheeky Sod, they might be from Blackburn but defo not Darwen it is a town of respectable Smack Heads and lazy B-st-rds not Bum Bashers 😀
Lowey, just read your blog very very funny it is as well. We pass through there quite a lot on our Tuesday night rides so come across a lot of them hanging about waiting for there fellow Bum Bashers 😯
During winter we purposely shine our lights into the cars as we ride by making them all cover there faces or duck down 😈
It really is about time the cops cleared this lot off, it used to be the main place for young guys to take their girlfreinds for a good time 🙂
I regularly trespass on Loweys land. But he does keep intruding on MY singletrack at Rivi. The Whitten (?) Weavers way over from the tower of an afternoon is the height of cheek, but irresistible. Rutted gully-tastic 😀
When we going out riding Dave? We must have passed within 100 yards of each other about a million times round there. I'm starting to take it personally
After witnessing photographic evidence of your elevated levels of bestiality in Morzine I think I'll take a rain check 😛
I know mate… we need to organise something. Give me a week or so and I'll see what I can get together. Maybe a night ride from the Barn, get Junkyard and Chucky along too.
Whatever happened to the Thursday night Yew Tree'ers ?
As to being a sales person, I must confess my allegencies have shifted somewhat since Bank Top Brewery opened their very own pub, The Bank Top Tap!
