I'll get flamed but Scissor Sisters 'Comfortably Numb'. And I love Floyd.

The regular, unsolved debate at work is 'Whiskey in the Jar"...
Thin Lizzy or Metallica?

Yep defo Hendrix covering All Along The Watchtower.

SRV covering Little Wing

Amy Winehouse covering Valerie

Thin Lizzy shits all over Metallicas attempt at Whiskey in the jar imo.

Tragically there doesn't seem to be a recording anywhere of Jimbob from Carter USM's rather magnificent version of That's What I Go To School For.

Even Trent Reznor has gone on record as saying that song is now Cash's.

No just no. Johnny Cash had one of those voices that can never be beaten on his own songs.

Tainted love , Soft Cell rather better than the Gloria Jones original , however she does score a bonus point for crashing the car in which Marc Bolan died .
You've got the love by Florence and the machine I originally thought blew the original by Candi Statton out of the water however I now don't think that is the case and prefer the original .

Dolly Partons original Jolene is a classic that The White Stripes certainly didn't improve IMO .

Really? The first time I heard Mark & Lard play it on the afternoon show on Radio 1 I stopped in my trackes & almost shed a tear...

Taste is a funny thing, the Soft Cell version of that is at least my 3rd favourite version of that song, behind Gloria Jones & Marylin Manson. I've not heard any other versions so until I do it's unlikely to get bumped further down the list...

Jeff buckleys version of hallelujah - think as with cash and NIN, leonard cohen has gone record saying buckleys version is better (but i'll stand corrected on that). First time i ever heard it was radio 1 playing it on the fiirst anniversary of 9/11 - sat in car park to listen to it in its entirety, then went straight to andys records to buy the album.

There's always someone who likes to think that Cash's "Hurt" isn't one of the greatest covers of all time. ๐Ÿ˜†

This song is like watching someone struggle to put up a fence (Duffy) and then a pro comes along and shows them how its done.
