Think I have a sticky valve or something.

Heating side of combi boiler been off all summer. Had visitors with kids staying this weekend, so as the house was a bit cool on Friday evening I popped the heating on for an hour just to take the edge off.

When I tuned it off the rads stayed hot and the hot water went cooler. Demand light was off. Heating control set to off. Rads still hot and boiler running full on.

Only way to stop it was to power the boiler off.

All weekend it was doing the same, power on to get hot water (6 of us needing showers and hot water etc) the boiler would run continuously with the rads at full temp.

Powered off yesterday while we were out. On returning, powered back on for showers etc and it appeared to have sorted itself out.

Until this morning when we don’t have any hot water, but the rads are off!

Think I must have a sticky valve or something.

Any ideas which one I should be looking at first and how to test?

    Cheers

I’m afraid all I can offer from years of personal experience is:
    Combi boiler = problem.

My guess would be a knackered diverter valve.
