a few weeks ago i lost the plastic screw that loads pressure against the crank before fixing it on the axel. the crank worked loose and it didn't realise. i then happened to jump some stairs and the crank pulled itself half off the axel.
it caused a bit of scoring to the straight threads on the crank. i smoothed it enough with some funky angled files so that it would go back on the axel.
there is now a new screw in place against the crank and it's tightened up properly and hasn't moved in the last five outings. but, there is now a distinct 'click' sound on each rotation of the crank.
do the BB's (external type) make a 'click' sound if they're knackered or is it more likely to be the crank moving a little and making the sound?
if the latter, would a drop of locktite fix it by filling in the area of play? how easy would it be to remove a locktite crank off the axel?
cheers
