At what point do you get rid of a car?

Having a good garage you trust helps too, my Stilo estate with 185k on it just got through its MOT with £300 quids worth of work it needed a new door latch which was going to be relativly pricey, so I just bought a smashe indoor from a scrappy for £20 and left it in the boot of the car when it went back in for the work, the garage just switched them over, great guys (Hawes Garage in South Queensferry BTW)
Also this:Breakdown repair Cover is well worth having when you run a banger, has literally saved me thousands over the last few years, would have scapped the car long ago without it.

See, I just paid a bill for £363 for major service and checking out the turbo issue. 😕
