Are Didriksons coats any good??

Looking for a decent winter coat that will last me a good few years, specifically at the Didriksons Drew Parka 7 at the moment.

Not come across Didriksons before, anyone got any of the jackets and can comment on quality, longevity etc?

Will be used for a lot of dog walking, ambling around with the kids and general outdoorsy stuff where I’ll be stood around for a while (Drone work, photography etc).

clothing from or designed in scandinavia tends to be pretty weatherproof.

so fora damp UK i reckon you are on a winner.

My wife has one of their Parka’s  – I bought it for her on the recommendation of a friends wife. She loves it as she has to walk along Brighton seafront to work and it has kept her completely dry so far. Its only a year or so old though so can’t really comment on longevity but it seems to be holding up so far.   They are quite often on discount – I think hers was reduced from £275 to around £175

I would not be averse to paying the cost of one of these, but I do not think I could wait until next Winter to receive it!

My wife has had a parka for about 3 years and it’s as good as new, gets quite a bit of use over winter. Warm and waterproof still. 

I got a Didriksons Parka from Sport Pursuit earlier this year. Far too warm to wear it then but really coming into its element(s) at the moment. Seems to have turned into my go-to jacket, and oh so many pockets to lose things in.

Got a good deal at the time, would be happy paying more

Mrsstu also has one of there parkas.
Had it for around five years and still gets worn regularly at this time of year.
Still waterproof and warm.

We have a couple of sets of waterproof jackets/trousers that our kids wore/are wearing between about 1yr and 4yrs old.

Lots of falls, crawling, balance bike rubbing, along with countless muddy puddles.

They have held up really well and will likely be passed on to someone else once they have outgrown them. If I needed an adult jacket I would definitely consider them based on the quality of the kids stuff.

My kids have been in Didriksons overalls since they were tiny, and the new company issued cold weather gear is Didriksons as well.
I’d use it, no question.

Not directly related to the adult parkas but we are another family that used the welded seam kids coats & dungarees – weirdly because youngest always got a rash on hands /  face from the water and chemical runoff on “normal” waterproofs. Whatever Didriksons and Rukka etc used was hypoallergenic and cured the problem. Proper stand under a hosepipe waterproof.

Very well made products and think my boss has a parka that he is happy with. Blackburn Outdoor Action website sometimes has them cheap.

Had a didriksons shell about 15 years ago; very thin, very light, and very waterproof. Still going, but now relegated to an emergency bung in the car one.

I would get another though

ETA Oh and the kids stuff mentioned. That was brilliant stuff.

My little lad went to a forest school for two years, and the uniform supplied by them was Didrikson. Rain (regales of how heavy), hail, snow they attended. They played outside 99% of the time, climbing, digging, sliding and generally being kids outside. This stuff was bomber, we still use the coat and dungarees now.
I’d have no concerns with the stuff.

Mrs has had one two years and loves it, but doesn’t wear it lots as very warm. I bought a drew parka in summer (on sale) only started to wear it recently, very warm and waterproof, highly recommended.
I looked at Frahm, couldn’t be bothered to wait, also not classed as waterproof. I spoke with them to check, it’s not. But it does look nice.

I picked up a Nomi 2 Oversize Parker for the mrs from wiggle for 27 quid, down from 310 or something stupid, first time she wore it we ended up breaking down on the M62 2 weeks ago, bit of a godsend considering she’s 8 months pregnant,

they have a UK10 Carina at the moment for cheap

Never heard of Didrikson gear, but Ridgeline stuff seems to be almost universally worn by farming folk, judging by the amount of people who wear it on ‘Countryfile’. From Aotearoa/New Zealand and not stupidly expensive from what I’ve seen. Not a big range of colours, but quite a range of styles, including smock versions that come halfway down the thighs.

I just got a Fredrik parka of theirs for this exact use. It’s very comfy and very warm and I rarely get to wear it anymore because the wife tends to steal it.

The kids stuff is absolutely solid. Our son has been wearing their stuff for years and hasn’t killed any of it yet.
I haven’t got any of it, but that’s more because other stuff has been on sale at the right time
