    Surely overheating would produce shorter run times? Or is that wrong?

    There’s a fan sat in front of it anyway

    Just finished testing at Low setting.

    I didn’t see when it switched off but at 2hrs 23mins the indicator was green and at 2hrs 30mins the light was off so the red indicator is really just a bit useless as it only lasts a handful of minutes.

    In summary, I reckon you could get 2 hours of decent light out of this light with some careful switching between high and low settings.

    sounds like great value and there’s sure to be someone else on the same night ride as you with a spare light to lend so that you can get home…

    Interesting and valid point about not testing the cheap lights because of the consistency issues.
