    Hi all,
I’ve got a ghost full suss mtb thats lying in the garage and not getting used, I’ve been toying with the idea of stripping it and donating the parts to a new hardtail, its been a pretty hi spec bike, xt everything, reverb, 120 fox forks.
I’d like steel if possible but looking around it seems 26″ is virtually obsolete.
    Any recomendations?

Got a nice Dialled Bike Prince Albert that I keep meaning to put up for sale. 19″ frame in blue. Let me know if interested and I will send on some more details.

You’re either looking second hand (Cotic Soul, etc) or just use the parts on a 27.5″ frame as the difference is minimal.

    I’ve got 26″ wheels in a 27.5″ frame.

The BB is super low. Mostly I used it on local trails. I had a super non fun time smacking the chainring into rocks on Snowdon.

Orange clockwork 120 with a 150mm fork. It’s great anywhere without many rocks!

On a less mercenary note, an older soul, P7 or a first generation Stanton if you can find one.

I run a Planet X On One 45650b with 26” wheels with 26” 130-150mm dual position forks. BB height fine and runs great at all levels of fork travel

I run 26″ wheels in my 27.5″ frame. the bb is a whole 7mm lower compared to the wheels it should run. I don’t notice a difference.

Not steel, but a Dartmoor Hornet would be a decent shout IMO, as recently as the 2017 model (off the top of my head) they were set up for either 26/27.5, lot of fun to ride and really flexible should you want a longer fork in there in the future, 120-180mm, good bikes, but alu not steel. Do come up periodically on eBay though.

Steel wise, can’t go wrong with a Dialled.

I’d just get a 27.5” frame and run your current bits on it until you have the cash / the desire to pickup a 27.5” fork and get your existing hubs built onto 27.5” rims. If you’ve got something like an x-fusion fork you might find you can get away with 27.5” wheels in a 26er fork anyway. Maybe just avoid frames that have too much bb drop (e.g Pipedream Moxie / Sonder Transmitter / some Vitus Sentiers).

Loving my Cove Stiffee. 150mm, handles really nicely. In fact one of the best bikes I’ve ridden.

Usually under a hundred for the frame.

A second hand Cotic soul would be my recommendation but I’m not sure how much they go for nowadays. The last time I looked for one was in 2017 and the prices were silly.
