I’ve always fancied a cross bike but space and common sense stops me. My trusty old 1990 Trek 8500 never gets used now. I.ve got a modern hardtail and singlespeed so there’s not really a use for it. I’ve got a strong sentimental attachment to the bike which far outweighs the secondhand value.

I’m contemplating keeping the RC35 forks but fitting drop bars with bar end shifters and narrow nobblies to use on fast forestry road blasts and towing the little one in the trailer when it’s too hilly for the singlespeed. It may well handle like a pig but it would be nice to try to give it a new lease of life.

I’ve run 1.75 Panaracer Smokes in the past without problems. The Campag rims are very narrow. Just wondering if any 1.5 inch or other narrow nobblies are available for 26 inch wheels…
