Righty, looks like I'll be ooopppp ' north for 3 months or more likely longer.
So thats a 550mile round trip each week, with daily commuting at the other end and probably trips to GT etc as I'm in the area.
Now there's no way the midget will do that, it'd need a service ever weekend, gearbox's have been known to do as little as 15,000 to a rebuild and crank rebuilds appear in the service interval sheet!
So by my reckoning if a modern car can do 55mpg on the motorway I'll save £1000 every 3 months just in fuel!
So:
a)cheep
b)cheep to insure (a + b < £1000)
c)55mpg
d)capable of doing stupid milages in top gear without breaking down.
e)takes a bike
