Anybody tried 120 forks on the older 100mm travel Boardman hardtail ?
Any views or feedback appreciated, ta.

My daughters partner has one with RS Darts, which are a bit crude and heavy (frame built up from bits off a donor bike). Just wondered if in the process of getting better forks, it would be worth trying 120mm travel with the view to making the steering a touch slacker without upsetting too much else 😕

It will be the same as putting 120mm forks on any other 100mm bike, it will be fine. I have an old trek 8500 that was designed for 80mm forks and handles v. well with 120 forks. With most folk wanting slacker angles anyway, the geometry will become more desirable.

Yes. For 2 years. It’s not cracked yet.

Didn’t one of the models built on that frame come with 120mm forks for a while?

Many 120mm forks can be spacered down anyway, so if you’re careful with your purchase it’s not a risk.
