I’ve noted people’s reluctance about the wisdom of doing a TTT on Out and Back Again. I share it.
Yep, I've entered though! You'll never become a Watopia-crushing superman if you only train your strengths 😂

I've entered - well done Zilog6128, that's the way to treat it - it won't suit us, we'll be dead slow, but we'll work as a team, do the best we can whatever that is and learn from the experience!!

I'm confident we won't be alone.

I'm in, well, until the volcano anyway!

Edit: just read the bit about a 58km route in a couple of weeks - that'll be emotional.

I reckon we treat that like a Paris processional and just have a good chat and drink champagne all the way round.

BTW, I don't know why you wouldn't (I just click yes for anything lol) but if you haven't, definitely sign up for the CeramicSpeed mission... apparently makes your in-game bike fractionally faster for the whole month of May 😃

You have to complete a certain number of miles on regular bike/TT/MTB to enter the prize draw, might be worth having another MTB meetup this month so we can rack up some MTB miles?

@zilog6128 how do we sign up?

Should just pop up in the top left of the startup screen, after you log on but before you start riding. Easily missed. You have to opt-in to start the mission. (Possibly you might not see it if you haven't updated your Zwift app)

https://zwiftinsider.com/ceramicspeed-mission/

I have read before that signing up via iOS makes you ineligible for winning the prize draw, so if you're bothered by that and you Zwift on an iPad/iPhone/AppleTV probably best signing up on your Mac/PC instead!

Anyone tried the Android version? Seems smooth and quick but can't get it to pair with ant+ devices despite having the bits installed I think it needs

Pissed off, haven't been on zwift for over a month thought I'd go on it this morning and it won't recognise the password and seems to refuse to send me a new one.

@weeksy I often use the Android Zwift app, used it other day for my first turbo session in over a month, but I don't use ANT+ on it.

I think some ANT+ support is there, but it's far more limited than BT.

https://forums.zwift.com/c/android/9 might enlighten you.

@weeksy android is very smooth, but has limited connectivity over ant+ - in particular it can't connect the controllable trainer (fec) profile, which is fatal.

I don't trust my trainer over bluetooth, so I don't know if that's better.

Yeah it's smooth as silk and BT seems fine, but my HRM is Ant+ only as is my cadence sensor.

I'm just thinking about times when laptop Zwift is playing up etc.

I got a cheap coospoo hr monitor of amazon. Think it was about £20 and works great for Bluetooth and ant+. Same for a cadence sensor.

Managed to get up the Alpe in today's race in 44.25 which I'm mega chuffed with, reckon it's those ceramic jockey wheels that got me under the 45!

I know it's not your cup of tea but doing it in a race makes a big difference, plus some of the onscreen graphics make it much easier to pace than other races.

Gave ‘Quatch Quest’ a go today - got over the Epic KOM climb in good shape by my standards, then slowly died on my arse up the Alpe. I’ve just swapped my Tacx Vortex for a Saris H3 - much smoother pedalling, but I think the Tacx might have been flattering me on the steeper ramps of the switchbacks.
To top it off, the ride didn’t save, so the distance and height gain haven’t been added to my totals.

Apart from the KOM climb which ever way yes. 58k though, that's got to be a sold 1:20 racing. Must remember not to go so hard early on!

lumpy Harrogate circuit

This was evil. We did two laps, well I say we, I got dropped about a quarter of the way into lap two.

Rightly so, that's damn quick. Well done :D.

Anyone watching the Pro tour race for all on Eurosport ?

Just watched the womens, won't spoil anything, but excellent racing 🙂

Yeah I'm watching really good and much improved production from some of the other previous events.

I was pleasantly surprised by production quality having seen some of the YouTube pro races. You would have thought the teams would have given the riders some Zwift lessons re: power ups, saw some strange usage in both races.

Haha. Does that mean you are in for tomoz evening then? I did the earlier race but was a recovery ride so stuck to a max of 170 watts. Was disciplined and did it as well and still had fun as I wasn’t last and caught a lot of people who set of before me being consistent.

I'm trying to decide on the first tour race, with my working and the weird zwift timings, it's either 6am or 8pm for me, both not ideal. Next ride after 6am is 9am, too late, shame they don't have one at 8am.

Anyway, legs are a bit cooked from the last few days so I might wait a couple of days before racing. I jumped on a ride yesterday and got burned, I'm not used to the pace of Cat C yet, I was good for the first 45 minutes and in the pack, but I fell out the back at one point and couldn't get back on. At that point I jacked it in.

Yeh for some reason they seem to stop at 2 until 5. 2 is a bit early with work and at 5 generally sorting out the kids teas. Not sure why there is nothing in between.

`44 up the alpe is shifting.

Did a pb last week of 54 doing alternate corners max beans/recovery as over unders with the club but doubt I'd get under 50 doing it as a ride. Even in the haute route I didn't get below 55.

Did the 7:10 tour for all A cat tonight. Was good. Settled into the second group in the road and swallowed up about 10 riders who tried to race someone else's race.

Got to the sprint in the pack and finished 6th in the sprint (of the second group of 30)

New FTP as well 🙂

For the last six weeks I've been doing the 3R KOM race on a Sunday afternoon which just the Road to the Sky, def recommend entering for anyone who wants to encourage a good time up the Alpe, always someone a few feet ahead to try and chase down or someone a few feet behind to encourage you not to slow down.

Plus it gives you the average watts over each segment which is helpful to keep at or around your FTP

Record attempt day will be weekend after this when the TfA looks likely to go up. Pick the busiest timeslot.

Did the Tour For All stage 1 Waistband short race last night, first full-on effort since middle of March pre-COVID, 280W average from 4iiii (and an inflated 298W from Direto used in Zwift) left me drained after the ~40min race and drained this morning... Might give myself extra time to cycle to work shortly and delivering for ~5 hours could be intresting!

On the plus side, I managed 171bpm for 20mins, when I've not done more than 162bpm for a while. On the down side, my best 20mins was 280W on the 4iiii, so I've dropped my FTP to 266W and I'm basically back to where I was before the TT Tune-Up I did in Jan/Feb and improved FTP to 294W... Meh!

ANyone who has done Stage 1 on Tour For All - it may miscategorise you as doing stage 1 as a run. Zwift are aware and are going to fix it.

Did my first time trial this morning and ended up 34th out of about 75. Seems there's a lot of people under 70kg who can bang out over 300 watts.
I averaged 330 for 26 mins so I got a big FTP bump from 296 to 314 watts.
Not sure how that's happened. Might be time to check my trainer against my power meter

44 mins up Alpe is proper fast!!
That's 4 mins faster than my PB .. and 6 mins faster than my best time this year!

How much do you weigh Kelvinshuffle and what power do you need to put out for that time?

That's very impressive suffering👍

Ugh just did the route Big Loop for the first time yesterday and did it pretty intensely so I was knackered afterwards, and it never gave me the route completed achievement or badge. I know I did the whole route as I gave a good few kms extra after the finish and still nothing. It's pretty annoying.

I'm going to drop out of the TTT this week sorry folks, going to get out on my bike in the real world and go the long way home from the office.

Not got much in my legs after last night anyway - sufficiently little I had to drive to work this morning as I'd have had to leave earlier than I actually crawled from my pit to make it in time on the bike

2 1/2 minutes better then my PB which absolutely killed me. Kelvin looks to be more towards the fly weight end of the weight spectrum. Perfect route for decent power and lower weight 💪.
