^^ indeed! I like climbing in real life but I can just bimble along on the mtb and just stop when I want.

Nice endorphin rush now though, along with rubber legs. However for the first 15 minutes after the race I was thinking "never again".Lol

I think I prefer longer races. Those short/ intense races are not for me I think. At the moment anyway.

I'm deffo a short power kind of guy. I've done ok in 35-40km races but I need to really come into then fresh and that's quite rare.
But I do have to start easing off for the Belgium trip in 6 weeks

Sounds like this afternoon's races went well, congrats guys!

I joined the 1810 stage 7 race last minute from the Android Zwift, unfortunately it put me in A, I had dead legs from earlier workout, I didn't have time to swap to my 4iiii as power source and topped off with forgetting to turn either of my fans on before getting on bike...

Dropped within seconds of the start and then tested my heat adaption for the next ~24mins while averaging 280W on a solo ride to the finish.

Turning the fan on during the cool down was absolute bliss! 😆

19.10 Stage 7 for me.
It went as expected for a short punchy route. Off at a sprint and then just holding on.
I managed to hold on to front group till the last long climb at 8km in - started stringing out quite a few of us then. Eased up a little bit knowing there was a group 3-4 seconds behind and with 5-6km left there was no way I could hold them off on my own.
They caught me towards top of last climb, so I sat in as they passed, and we caught up most of the other strung out riders within a KM or so ... came in at 34th B rider on Zwift Power.

I was expecting to be pushing my best watts on such a short punchy race. But just under 10w down on my last 2 races. Towards end of another busy week in work so guess I am tired. HR went to 170bpm within 24 seconds and stayed between there and 179bpm for the 20 minutes the race lasted.

First race in C for a while. Not quite DFL but felt like it. Should really eat dinner more than 20mins before and get one the bike more than 5mins before...

Fair play

HR went to 170bpm within 24 seconds and stayed between there and 179bpm for the 20 minutes the race lasted.

I would actually die.

Only time I've been sick on a bike is on Zwift and I've pushed myself pretty hard at altitude more than once. It's too easy to just crack on, thinking it'll be fine.

I'm doing the Team Italy Sub 2 social ride tonight at 5.30pm.

3 laps of volcano flat I think. Optional sprints and third lap is basically full on.

Nice bunch of guys on there too.

Really enjoy those team Italy rides.

The sprints surrounded by a load of others trying to beat their PR,or just the person next to them is something to behold.

It does help to know where the sprints begin mind you.😄

It's that charity ride/event tomorrow. Not done 3 consecutive days of Zwift so tired legs tomorrow I reckon.

Kalas 2 laps London 8 last night. Longer than normal races and I'm down on power compared to November.
Held the main group comfortably until Box Hill albiet in 30th to 40th. The big group exploded on the hill as expected and crested with a small group running 21st.
Work together but not very hard back to Box Hill where we split the small group rapidly with me trying to get on terms with the single rider who escaped. Can't quite pull him back and joined by 2 more. Just about hold onto them before the bend as it flattens but not quite on them and can't accelerate enough over the KOM or up the last steep bit. Solo chase to no avail although pass someone else just before the line. Well ahead of those behind.
Good race and happy with the performance although I'm expecting to get better quickly!
16th in C

Great result there.

I couldn't begin to hold the watts you did for a race of over an hour!

Or for far less if I'm truthful.Lol

It's all relative.
Everyone complains on feeling unfit if they are down on power to where they used to be, while evryone looks at them going I'd love to be as powerful as you on a bad day.
Optimisitic it'll be back up in 4 weeks if I can keep healthy and consistently riding now.

Stage 7 TDZ for me this morning. Went in Cat D to see what would happen, went off a bit fast and was feeling a bit sick on the first climb, was doing it fasted.

Let the front group go and basically TT'd it for most of the race with a couple of others coming through and then dropping back at various parts of the route. Strength came back and was hitting around 290/300w. Went as fast as I could up the final hill to the finish but lost a place or two, finished 20th on zwift. ZP had me at 6th but has now put me into unfiltered again.

Can someone explain the unfiltered thing, ZP still says cat D but I'm sure I may have to move up to C as I averaged 2.81w/kg I have a heart rate monitor, cadence and speed, is it because I'm on a dumb trainer or just the category?

Zwiftpower says an average of 2.49w/kg over my events so far so I guess I'm just in D still as it hasn't put me up.

Just need to see why I'm unfiltered for my races...

Have you refreshed your profile in ZP @oop north?

I did another 100k ride this morning, they absolutely destroy me. 2.5hrs on the road is a breeze. 2.5hrs of constant effort on a turbo is a different matter. My legs are in shreds!

On the suggestion from here (Link) I did my first zwift race with an hrm, that being TdZ stage 7 yesterday.

According to the zwift analysis, I spent most my time in z5, with a little bit in z4. Seems like I’m riding too hard? My race average was 6bpm under my max hr. However, I was riding hard having moved up to C because my last two stages were UCG on ZP. I placed 88/194 in zwift, but 22nd on ZP.

Depends on event rules. No power meter a lot of the time now means a DQ from ZP results.
Your category will update overnight.

It sounds like you're zones are wrong, I don't know how long the race was but it is highly unlikely (more like impossible) you would spend that long in z5!

Do you have to manually refresh Zpower then? I see the tab to do it.

Does it refresh from Strava or Zwift?

Thanks for info!

So will a dumb trainer always give me a DQ on ZP because of no power meter? Cadence, speed sensors and HR monitor are not enough?

If that's the case then it's fine, I'll just race and not really worry about ZP results. I think it will be a few months before I can upgrade to a smart trainer.

ZP will update info. It's incredibly busy for the server at the moment with TDZ.

Jumped into my first race at Crit City on a whim tonight. 2 minutes warmup and into a C race with a good few Bs and a A+ racer.
Hard start which took a while to settle down as is the case in shorter races. Learning the course within 8 laps and figuring out where the finiah line is. At least in my group it was go hard up the final straight of the climb to hold onto the group.
Mid race I was wondering if I was going to get dropped but at least I'd worked out where the finish was and the sprint had to be from at least before the final turn.
A+ man had a pop off the front but came back and in the last few laps found myself coming through to the front which meant others must have been feeling the pace.
As is my MO I slip a bit too far back as the pace increases coming to the big mural so I had to wind it up 2 corners out with an aero. Shot through the group by the final corner looking good for the win.
Shame I forgot my left cleat is knackered and popped out so I was sprinting on one leg. A+ boy got past but everybody else must have been napping.
ZP win adn it's been a while. Ace course to race on but pretty brutal. Not sure I'd want to do over 45minutes on it though.

Looks like I've got A+ man a ban on ZP for doing it regularly. Daft thing is he races the proper category and keeps with the main pack for the sprint. I'm sure he was just "training" but he was affecting our race.

It's confusing at times racing it on Zwift, the distance doesn't seem to make any difference to people, you race 16km and it's flat out, 20km, it's flat out, 30km it's STILL flat out. There's no difference at all for the riders, which i simply don't understand lol.

Sadly for me, many of my recent Crit races have been a bit slow, small groups of riders rather than big bunches, which means even if i have a good day, i still very rarely end up with Racing Points. You really have to pick and choose your races well, then on top of that you need to get the right performances and right bits of luck/tactics.

45 mins of trying to figure out why ant+ wasn't working then zwift app kept crashing. Waste of time today, was it just me or is zwift having issues today?

I was running it earlier in Just Watch to test out the PC for a different issue and Ant+ seemed ok.

I'm catching up on the Tour tomorrow (I missed Stage 1) so will see for sure then.

You running Zwift on ios/ android or such?

I've found a reinstall usually shorts things, on the PC too.

If it continues I'd be inclined to uninstall the ant dongle and Zwift and reinstall both.

Dongle nice and close to the turbo?

It was only nine miles. I’ll have a look at the settings. I had a lingering lurgy so going to wait till I’ve recovered, then test again.

I'll try it again tomorrow and hope for the best, everything was the same as it's been for the last year or two so not sure where the oroblem has come from.

The 16:45 is starting to look interesting and a decent bunch

https://www.zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=328942

Bit lacking in big hitters from C at the moment, but with some fast Bs we should be getting a decent pace on. Not sure what the legs have to offer yet, but certainly i'll be looking to ask them

Fast fast first 2 laps, but sitting happily in lead bunch of 15. Big field of 89+.
Then my lad comes back from his ride and kicks out the power cable while getting the hose.

Game over.

@weeksy Saw you got 3rd yesterday in 1605 Innsbruck 4 lap, after ~6 sandbagging B riders were DQed from ahead of you in C. https://zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=332383

https://zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=328949 TT of Richmond UCI 1-lap from Monday was a bit of a farce result, two sandbagging A riders (who should have been in B for this modified category event) won the C and D categories and have not been DQed by organisers. I didn't have good legs compared to some recent efforts I've managed, but the non-DQ cost me 2nd in C.

TBH i was a bit disappointed in myself mate.

As we got to 2 mins left in the pen the organiser informed us it was non-draft due to a mix up. So was essentially a Solo TT effort. I decided to stay in there anyway as i was on the bike and ready.

After lap 1 i was sitting behind the 2 fellas who ended up ahead of me at the end, but not that far behind them only 12s or so... I closed this on the next lap and pulled out 10s on them. By the time we started lap 4, the three of us were going over the line absolutely dead together... Little bit of toing and froing up until the climby bit... but there it all went wrong and i lost 12s on the hill. They were 4.2w/kg up it, i was only 3.7.... i couldn't even try and make up that amount of time as they were putting in about 3.0-3.2 all the way to the line, as was I.
