I know the default answer is you're not paying so **** off but why doesn't YouTube work on this forum?

There's lots of embedded links to stuff but when I click them on desktop chrome or android chrome, the best I can expect is that the audio will work but the visuals never work and the preview pic disappears, only thing I can do to control it is to press refresh.

Works fine for me on Chrome, not even using Drac's fabled iPad.

Chrome on windows 7 @ work
Chrome on windows 10 @ home
Chrome on android phone

Nothing. all acting the same.

I assume its something at my end or everyone would be struggling but I cant work out what it would be.

Odd how I got this too when trying to reply.

I have the same issue running firefox and chrome on OS10.15. I do have something that stops me seeing adverts, not sure if that's the problem or not.

Edit, they seem to work if I'm signed in as someone else has said.

There we go then, seems they only work for me when signed in. I'll have to remember that, thanks.

Works ok for me to, and as per title - Free Member (although having such a title is paramount to an accusation one might argue 😉

I just highlight the url and post it direct in my post. No clicking 'youtube' button bit on the editor.

Posted 100s of videos on here, only thing that's changed recently is you don't need tags (good), and you can post vids from more than just youtube (also good).

I get the same, Chrome on Android on my phone. I have noticed that there are 2 types of YouTube links (but I haven't bothered to check why they are different). Let's call them mini and maxi. The 'Mini' type shows a small embedded preview that disappears as soon as you click it. The 'maxi' type is a much bigger frame normally with borders top and bottom. These work fine. Very odd! I dont have the issue on any other site, but I'm a freeloader at the moment so haven't bothered to report it or mention it!

Edit: this video is using the YouTube share button with the following url:

>

< Edit 2: that shows as a maxi window and works fine. Not sure how others are embedding videos?

You can copy a YouTube URL from a browser's address bar and paste is as text into the forum and it works. I'm not sure what your 'mini' links are and don't know anything about the mobile site behaviour as I don't use it I'm afraid.

That's odd, I've gone to look for an example of a 'mini' and all the embedded videos I can find are now showing as 'maxi' and are working! My phone did an update last night, not sure if that's fixed anything but its been like it for a few months.

Ok, sorry me being thick. Once logged in it works fine. Here is the 'mini' before I click on it:

Here is the same page once I've clicked on the thumbnail of the video. Piff paff poof, its vanished:

And here is the same video in 'maxi' mode once I've logged in:

I should report this to tech via email now I've worked out the scenarios I guess...

BTW, the video i linked to is worth a watch if you're having a bad day 😄
