Imagine the scenario if you can....her indoors wants a torch for work that doesn't need to be attached to a cycle helmet or a set of handlebars. She will be holding it (the torch)!

She wants something that's durable and with a decent battery life (so I guess that'll be an LED then).
From what she has said she wants something that's a decent size (so she can whack the dissident minority with it - joke) but nothing too large like those huge 4 D-cell Maglites. Also, I mentioned the P7s, but when she realised they take funny size batteries went off the idea, as it would mean dedicated batteries & charger. We have a charger that will do AA/C/D & I was gonna get her those eneloop rechargables so she doesn't have to charge the batteries every week.
She'll also need some kind of belt loop/neoprene holder type thing.

Anyone got something that they care to recommend? I looked online last night and got a bit bamboozled by the choice! Even on just the deal extreme website there's 10's of different ones & there are online shops that sell nothing but torches!! I am tempted to just get her a Maglite LED one and be done with it.

Look in Tesco. Whole selection of top quality LED torches right up to mugger-bashing size.

I lent her one of my Tesco AA leds torches that I had been using as back up helmet light.
I think she want something with a bit more spread (I guess the larger ones would solve that) & both of the ones I got seem to be a little intermittent after not that long, so I am not that convinced by the quality.

Rhod Gilbert -

"My mum's got a torch that has the power of 1 million candles...1 Million!!!! I mean, you'd think 900,000 would be enough!"
