I totally would. This super-deep pool looks amazing!

Scuba? yes absolutely. The one being built in Colchester looks interesting though.

Yes I would, but I'd need some more training before they'd let me go to the bottom.

Anything more than 40m is considered "technical".

Doesn't look very interesting. Will they be throwing some sharks n stuff in there?

Yes, but as said doesn't have much in it.

45m?  I've done deco stops deeper than that! 😀

Seems a bit pointless when there is a natural one just over the border that is somewhat deeper. And a bit more interesting 🙂

Is that a bathysphere hanging from the ceiling?

Yes, did Nemo33 in Belgium a few years back - although not sure what the extra 12 meters gets you other than bragging rites.

No, because my right eustachian tube doesn't work properly so my ear drum would burst 🙁

I’ve been to 25m once for couple of minutes (Edit: probably less) and was a bit underwhelmed. I like the top few metres with the fishies.

There's a 34m in Brussels next time you are across @saxonrider

That’s not deep.

In what context?

It's all relative. Compared to Challenger Deep, no it's very shallow.

50m is the legal limit for commercial air diving in the UK and a lot of other Countries for a reason.

To suggest 50m isn't deep for a recreational diver is BS.

I went to 32m on my Open Water course (which was run with a rather lackadasical attitude to safety in Turkey). Found the whole thing very boring to be honest, never dived since and not really interested in doing so again.

I would love to have a go but don't have the skills so I'm pretty certain that i wouldn't be allowed to try. Besides, where do you buy a snorkel long enough?

I went to 25 meters off the coast of Ireland, was amazing looking up at the fishes above me. The worrying thing was how you can just drift down if you don't keep an eye on the depth gauge.

Would love to go freediving in it.
Seems a bit rubbish for scuba but nice training ground for apnea.

Imagine the amount of plasters at the bottom of that...

Unless there is a u-boat at the bottom it’s pointless!

45m? I’ve done deco stops deeper than that!

Me too, but only on rebreather.
I found that the best compromise between enjoyment and embuggerment was in the 45-60m range.

I like the idea - not a scuba dude but the depth doesn't bother me, what bothers me in open sea swims is what's underneath that you can't see, and that I guess you can probably see most of the way to the bottom to. 🙂

I’ve been below 50m a couple of times, to view wrecks. I found the dives a bit underwhelming - you have to plan so carefully, the visibility wasn’t great, and I get bored during the deco stops. It is quite cool looking up and seeing how far below you are, but I’d happily never go deeper than 30m again.
I have a friend who used to do 100m+ dives, but no longer. It was so expensive and the deco stops were even longer of course. I imagine they’re even duller in a pool.

I dived in the SETT tank at Gosport quite a few years ago. That is 25m deep and was interesting to do once, but didn’t feel the need to rush back and do it again. I can’t see going deeper in a pool would be worth the effort, maybe with the exception of training dives.

I have dived to around 40m lots of times, only worth it if you are in the right place with something to see at that depth - for example I have been lucky enough to dive with thresher and hammerhead sharks in places were they are only seen at that sort of depth.

I wonder whether they light it at the bottom? one of the issues with that depth is the need to take torches etc which adds to the task loading to operate when experiencing narcosis... I'd imagine once you've done it there isn't much to keep going back for unless training a skill

about 50m on open circuit air diving was my max, the cost put me off further than that.
Only got to about 26ish metres freediving, I found that one ear wouldn't clear fast enough

I did 30m on a dive course.

I had to write my name backwards and it was impossible, which was funny. In face everything was absolutely hilarious. It was basically sand and blue.

So I think while it might be the funniest thing I ever did, it might be the last as I laughed my mask right off!
