Of the various shops that have disappeared its only Woolies I actually miss...have you tried to buy presents for a kids party? There is nowhere on the high street now to get kids presents...its a bloody nightmare. Plus just those weird random things you just can't get anywhere else 🙁

I was on a mission to find a Thomas the Tank Engine lunchbox for Junior. Without Woolworths it took me 2 days of hardcore high street stomping to find one. (In Matalan eventually)

http://www.theinternet.com/

The internet is great when you know what you want to buy and have time for it to be delivered but when my son gets party invites, you might only have a few days plus I need to browse to find the right thing for a 6 year old boy as its a potential minefield of mistakes (I was told I should have bought HotWheels the other day instead of Wall-E...Well, I like Wall-E)

TKMaxx?

Potential but a bit hit and miss with stock

Harrods?

My store card is maxed out form the food hall 😉

@Stoner: Exactly...its possible to find stuff (I ended up in Argos the other day for a Horrid Henry Joke Kit and Wall-E toy) but its a lot harder work without Woolies

Wilkinson seems to do what Woolies did, but better and cheaper....

The only time I'd been in Woolies recently was when I was looking for an iron to wax my snowboard with.

"Where will I find a really crappy, dirt-cheap iron that has an untreated metal base and no steam?... Ah.. £6 in Woolies. Perfect."

Wilkinson's do a far better P&M. This is why Woolies folded in the first place, IMO

Some ex Woolies staff have taken over the lease of a Woolworth store and branded it Wellworth. GMTV this morning.
