Started making something along the lines of this

Thinking of a solid wooden wheel but unsure how I'm going to mount the axle.
Any ideas?
Initial thoughts were just to drill holes and then use those axle star end caps

What axle width? 110, 135, 142 or 150?

Depends what youre making the axle out of? Whats wrong with a U clamp as per pic?

Bit to mount axle tapers inwards so not square to axle.

What's wrong with the usual way, as shown in that pic, of using U brackets underneath?

I think op means the handles taper to the wheel so the u brackets won't be square on.

Surely you just mount the square to the wheel?

In Stw style, can you not fit a set of fox 32 QR15's that you have spare, axle and mount sorted (with spare old hope hub of course)

*smiley wink*

Mount the U brackets square to the wheel, use end caps on the U brackets to stop the axle wandering left or right.

use an old front wheel hub, remove sploes and rim, then make wooden wheel in two parts, then fix over wheen hub, fix a steel ring over the top of wheel to prevent damage.
