There is a surface scratch on our car's windscreen. Just off the line of drivers vision. Can these be polished out? If so what with? Can a scratch mean an MOT fail?

Hit the window from the inside about as hard as you would if you were trying to kill an annoying fly that's just p155ed you off for the last 20 miles.

£50 excess later and a couple of hours at Autoglass and you'll have a brand new shiny scratchless windscreen.

probably worth checking if you won't loose any no claims bonus before you do this though.

Scratches would have to be horrendous to fail an MOT.

Simple answer is that they can't. Not economically. Screens are generally £70 upwards if you're willing to ring around for a while.

I have some 1Z glass polish and it doesn't seem to make much of a dent on wiper type marking on a windscreen, even when applied by machine.
