Went out of the house earlier to find this in the next road. It's windy but I didn't think it was that windy. No riding in this methinks...

Looks like root system was knackered long ago, healthy trees have far bigger root plate.

I assume you have now chopped that up and stored it for next year?

Popped over to visit a friend this afternoon, at her hotel/restaurant near Castle Combe. Sat out in her her parking area, which is fairly protected by hedges and buildings, but it was like having a couple of boisterous kids jumping around in the back of the car! It was bouncing around all over the place, God knows what it would be like in an open high place.

Looks like a sorbus, they're a bit prone to rotting roots. It's not really worth sweating over the logs though , it's a bit fireproof. I've been tidying up fallen trees all weekend, there can't be many left to fall over after this month's wind.

Pottering in the garden this afternoon and a small plastic tray got whipped up by the wind and exploded against my forehead, gave me quite a handsome gash.

The Northerly wind last week folded our Potato Vine in two. Luckily this weekend's winds were SW, so were propping it back up (or what's left of it after I had to cut 90% off).

CorrrRRR, now that's a phrase you don't here every day 🙂

@footflaps Potatoes don't grow on vines silly, they grow on trees. Everyone knows that. 😉
